Liberty Science Center is a 300,000-square-foot learning center on the bank of the Hudson River. Located near the Statue of Liberty, the center showcases 12 museum exhibits, a live animal collection, massive aquariums, a 3D theater, element simulators, and much more. The center even hosts the Western Hemisphere’s biggest planetarium: The Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater.

Liberty Science Center is a must-see destination. The Science Center is also home to the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, where you can learn to spot the stars in the night sky. Explore the engineering marvels of our times in Skyscraper, and try balancing on an I beam in midair. Make your way through the pitch-black Touch Tunnel guided only by your sense of touch. "A terrific experience marred by costly food options"

Great science museum. We enjoy this place. Several fun exhibits for all ages. The only real negative is the food. It's ok, but the prices are ridiculous. Chicken strips + fries + drink = $18. Mozzarella sticks - 3 normal sized sticks for $7. At these prices, I'd suggest any other restaurant in the area before coming here and ensuring the shocking cost of getting your family what looks like a simple meal. It is really the only thing that sours my visits here - yet it's so costly a mistake, it has me looking for other attractions for a family day.

"Great for Future Science Buffs"

Drove from Brooklyn with our 9 yo during the heatwave on a Sunday morning. Was our first time for all of us and it didn’t disappoint. A bit pricey and have to pay extra for certain exhibits but only paid for entry and the Blue Whale exhibit. Parking is $7.00 which is fine, they have 2 snack areas but didnt partake. There was a lot of kids there but didn’t feel too cramped or claustrophobic.

Our experience at the Liberty Science Center on Friday, May 10th, was fantastic. Mary and the LSC's STEM team and staff were nothing but professional. The activity of building 3-D models was a unique and engaging experience for our sales team. Five stars all around!

"Perfect for families"

I had heard about LSC for years and finally went. It took some getting to, but when I arrived, I was stunned by the enormity of the place, it was almost like they had too much space and didn’t know what to do with it all. The baby chicks were a favorite. Would definitely recommend for families. A great place to spend the day. It reminded me of an AMC theater, all modern, but we made our own movie.

"REALLY BAD - UNPROFESSIONAL and UNKIND PEOPLE"

One of THE most unprofessional and illogical organizations that I’ve come across - and I’ve travelled the world. We were 8 minutes late to one of their planetarium shows after driving 1 hour in pouring rain and they refused to let us in. Brielle C., in particular was very very uncourteous - she refused to listen and had been a very sour person to talk to at the entrance to the planetarium. Michael, her supervisor was much more considerate, and very kind, but his hands were tied behind his back by his superiors. All they had to do was let us in and we were willing to pay extra, but their simple answer was that the computer will not allow them! Would not recommend this to anyone, since they don’t know how to ensure kindness or professionalism!

Tues – Fri. 9:30 am – 4:00 pm and Sat. & Sun. 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.

The parking lot is owned by the state of New Jersey and operated by a private company. LSC does not receive parking revenue. The price of cars and vans during the day is $7.00.

Yes, drop-off circle near the entrance (enter from Phillip Street), two large elevators access each floor. A third elevator serves the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater. A level entrance and interior space and wheelchair-accessible restrooms and public areas.

Can I leave and re-enter on the same day?
Yes, you will get a wristband when you check-in.

Can I bring my camera?
Yes.

Can I bring my own food/beverages?
No, but the café on the second floor offers hearty, healthful fare for lunch and snacks. Try a custom-crafted pizza from the brick oven, a specialty sandwich or entrée from the grill, or take your pick of fresh choices at the salad bar. We also offer special kids' meals, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and sweet treats. There are vending machines in our Group Dining room, and seating for your group in spacious Governors Hall and small dining rooms, all near the café. We offer many vegetarian and gluten-free options. Please be aware that Liberty Science Center is neither a nut-free or gluten-free facility.

Can I bring my pet?
Registered service dogs are welcome at Liberty Science Center.
