Aladdin the Musical in New York, NY

We took our family to see Aladdin the musical on Broadway as a result of overwhelmingly positive personal recommendations from friends/family, as well as, positive reviews and experiences from a variety of travel/entertainment sites. To say the least, our lofty expectations were exceeded! The New Amsterdam theatre is a 'classic' broadway theatre, which in and of itself, has been beautifully restored with excellent upkeep. The staff was seasoned and excellent ushering people in/out both before-during-after the show. Thankfully, the staff was VERY ontop of inconsiderate and discourteous behaviors during the show, such as guests attempting pictures/videos/on their cell phone. THANK YOU to the staff, as these tickets are pricey and you hate to have your experience ruined by some random people that 'have to text' during the show. BRAVO for reinforcing good theatre habits! The show itself was purely spectacular. The cast is spot on, amazing, a well oiled machine that hit all their spots with ease and truly appeared to ENJOY every moment on stage and with the audience interaction/applause. The lead characters in particular (Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar, Genie) were cast perfectly and the performers never let down their energy. The costumes, props, staging, and of course the live pit accompaniment were all next level, even for Broadway! There is an intermission, which causes the typical 'bathroom rush', so I'd recommend timing it just right for when that curtain drops you're 'one jump ahead' of the bathroom line! We highly recommend Aladdin the musical for all ages and types of groups- solo, couples, family, friends, etc.

I have been disappointed with the last few Broadway shows that I have seen. Aladdin is the exception!! Excellent cast, excellent singing, excellent costumes, excellent acting, excellent music, etc. The main charters are supposed to be the young couple who fall in love. However, the genie steals the show with a strong voice, excellent acting, strong story telling. Well worth the cost of the tickets with the +30% markup.
