Eugene theatre in new york is a lovely intimate venue. The wine was expensive but the barman was so fast and impressive, he had that down to a fine art and was able to serve everyone who wanted a drink in the interval, it was amazing to see!! The show was probably the best thing I've ever seen, yes the humour is very close to the bone but no worse than South park or Ricky Gervais. Very very funny and 100% worth a watch if you're not too delicate. I have put that we went as a family and we did but our daughter is 18 , this show is not for children 😉

Worst Broadway show I've seen in 35 years of seeing Broadway shows. I'm not religious, I lean liberal, and I love comedy. I even liked the first South Park movie. All that being said, I almost fell asleep during the first act, I didn't laugh once (except when a cast member accidentally laughed during her scene), and like many other reviewers, found the Ugandian portrayal and "baby raping" dialogue a bit too much. I even read that the cast has found the content troubling in recent years. Should be enough reason to think twice before shelling out hundreds of dollars and wasting 2 and a half hours of your precious time.

I don't know where to start. This show was in order, stupid, not funny and unnecessarily over the top crude and vulgar and I might add disrespectful to the prophet Jesus..... mention f****** a baby 10 times, cutting off women's clitorises mocking the way Christ hung from the cross is just the start.. 15in fake penises out of plastic, mocking sex heterosexual sex dance scenes and almost endless Christian satire is your thing then check the show out. Otherwise there is no laugh to be found. Unless you're 16 years old and raised in some hell hole. Don't bother

I've now seen Book of Mormon at the Eugene O'Neil Theatre, twice, a year apart, and this review covers both times. This is a South Park view of Mormons, Christianity, religion, and Africans. It contains a lot of profanity, sexual inuendo, crude jokes and offensive language. In fact, it contains too much of this and would be just as good with less of it. As with most NYC theaters, the Eugene O'Neil seats are not comfortable and lack adequate leg room. Notwithstanding all that, the musical is funny and entertaining. The song and dance performances are well done by a talented cast. It probably would benefit by shortening it a bit, but the story line is easy to follow even if you don't know much about Mormonism. Overall, the audience reaction was very positive. I suspect most knew in advance what they were in for, and I feel sorry for anyone who didn't. Parents definitely should leave the kids (and probably the grandparents) at home.
