"Horrific customer service- stay elsewhere"

Disorganized front desk staff- was put in a room in front of elevators and got no sleep the entire stay. Using two sound machines weren’t loud enough to drown out the noise outside my room. Was told I could change rooms, but then in 4 days, after talking with 5 people, nobody got back to me. Was asked to wait for a manager, and nobody even came. I was attending a wedding and had many commitments and was unable to wait over 20 min to get helped. Was told on my last day that they had a room blocked for me to move to all along- but nobody bothered to call me on cell phone or leave a message in my room, or inform even 1 of the 5 front desk staff I asked about changing rooms? Breakfast vouchers weren’t honored as given, and on last day as I returned to room to shower before leaving for airport there was NO WATER in the shower at all. Can’t believe I wasn’t even informed of a potential problem in water available. I have left messages with hotel managers and nothing. No return calls, nor emails. Overall, if you need any customer service help or assistance of any kind, don’t hold your breath.

"Fantastic Hotel"

Could not fault this hotel from start to finish. I read some bad reviews of the hotel before travelling to New York from the UK, so was a little worried the stay wasn't going to be the best. To start, the hotel is in a fantastic location, just off Times Square, perfect for broadway, a short walk to Central Park and the subway for further afield. Plenty bars and restaurants around to suit all. All the staff during our visit were polite and efficient at doing their jobs from front of house to cleaners, bar and restaurant staff to bell boys, nothing was ever a trouble. You do pay room tax upon arrival which is around $45 (£34) per night which I believe is the case for all hotels in the city (I may be wrong) they do hold $100 as a deposit on the room. Yes, if you are not expecting this it can come as a shock so do understand people's frustrations with this, but this didn't bother me (I myself, only found this out a few days before travelling, but this is why I tend to take a credit card, expect the unexpected). You get a breakfast voucher per person, per night these can be used for a grab and go breakfast downstairs in Bond 45 (you don't pay any extra for this), this is a multiple choice of either Fruit of Pastry then a choice of either two different hot sandwiches, yogurt and granola pot or hot pancakes then a drink selection of Fresh Juice, bottled water or tea and coffee, all of the options where pretty decent, remember this is a grab and go breakfast, its quick simple but very tasty and does the job its intended to. You could also use the vouchers for the restaurant experience which you pay $6.50 extra, it is a basic menu but the food was all good, but in my opinion the grab and go was the best option for me personally. The restaurants do have a full breakfast, dinner, lunch menus in which you can pay to dine, as the puplic can walk in off the street to eat and drink in them. We paid to eat and drink in the restaurant once as we were out and about most of the time but drank in Bond 45 a few of times but drinks and food were really good in both. The bar staff in Bond 45 are fantastic the cocktails have got a kick 10/10 for the them. Rooms were clean and tidy, beds are medium to firm, me and the wife, every night had a decent nights sleep (I don't sleep well at home so this says something) We stayed during the blizzard and the city was on lockdown, we received a letter of apologies on the morning of said blizzard explaining there was a staff shortage but we didn't really notice, again staff were fantastic at making our stay as comfortable and easy going as possible, credit to all the staff for this. We were travelling in a family party of 3 married couples and we all pretty much had the same opinion in regards to the hotel etc. This hotel was only ever booked as a base, somewhere to get our heads down due to its location for exploring the city but it exceeded our expectations. Thank you to all the staff at The Hotel Edison for making our trip to New York that much more comfortable and easy going.
