Description

We are San Francisco’s original cable car tour and charter operator. Some of our cars are originals dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. All of our other vehicles are built from the ground-up using the original cable car blueprints and constructed of solid oak and brass. Hornblower Classic Cable Cars is one of the newest ventures for Hornblower, the company that opened its marine operation 35 years ago.

Frequently Asked Questions about Classic Cable Cars

What are the hours of operation?
VIP Early Access to Alcatraz and Exclusive Cable Car Sightseeing Tour: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. San Francisco Experience City Tour – Fisherman’s Wharf: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. San Francisco Experience City Tour – Union Square: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Is the attraction wheelchair accessible?
Our vintage Cable Cars are not equipped with wheelchair accessibility.

Can I bring my camera?
Yes. Pictures are allowed.

Do you allow service animals?
Yes, provided your animal is a registered service animal.

Is there a place to park my stroller while on a Tour?
Unfortunately, we do not have adequate stroller storage onboard our vehicles.

What is the policy on children?
As we are vintage Cable Car vehicles, there are no seat belts on board. We recommend children of younger age stay seated on the lap of an adult, or between two adults. Children are the responsibility of the adult traveling with them at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Do you operate in the cold or rainy weather?
We operate rain or shine. Roughly 12-14 guests on each Car can fit in the middle enclosed area and then the rest of the group in the front and rear open-air sections are still covered by a roof so normal rain is typically a non-issue. We also provide rain ponchos upon request. We always recommend dressing in layers year-round in San Francisco for your comfort.
