What a fabulous operation!!! Safe, efficient operation on the ground and a really stunning and fun flight! Malcom is a great pilot. We had a wonderful conversation while we flew about the area, the ranch, the ecosystem that supports the cranes and vultures and deer and other wildlife. The flight was incredibly fun. If flying with Wallaby isn’t on your list- it should be. And a PS… the breakfast is worth every penny!

I was there with my daughter and we had the best experience there. We went early in the morning and the weather was clear. The owners were great they made sure you understood you were going to do . You are strapped in to a harness with the owner and he showed you how to manover the glider. They even have a small place to serve you breakfast. The experiance was great for the both of us. Don't miss this.

My husband, adult son and I just had an amazing experience at Wallaby Ranch. We each experienced the peaceful hang gliding and joy of actually maneuvering the glider by ourselves with the professional Malcolm Jones at our side. The entire crew was awesome and super friendly. We would recommend Wallaby Ranch to all.

What a wonderful and thrilling experience! The team at Wallaby Ranch led by Malcolm, are knowledgeable and skilled hang gliders with years of experience behind them. You call the night before your flight to ensure weather conditions will allow for a ride the following morning. Once you get to the ranch, it's a pretty quick turnaround between the time the hang glider and plane are brought out to the field and you and Malcolm each individually get strapped into your own harness. You feel weightless in the harness, no stress on your body. The small plane takes you up to an altitude slowly and enabling a stunning view of the landscape below. You can steer the glider yourself should you choose to. You are gliding like a bird once the plane unhooks from the hand glider and gently and slowly you glide back down to earth. It is serene, it is peaceful and it is exhilarating! What a wonderful experience! I would highly recommend Malcolm and Wallaby Ranch and crossing something off your bucket list with a hang glide ride! A lifetime memory indeed!!!

Frequently Asked Questions about Tandem Hang Gliding Flights

How long are the flights?
Flight times vary based on the flight you have chosen. Flight times are as follows:
  • Discovery Flight: 15 minutes
  • The Mile High Flight: 21 minutes
  • The Supreme Flight: 40 minutes

How high do we go?
Flight altitudes also range by flight type.
  • Discovery Flight: 3,500 feet in the air
  • The Mile High Flight: 5,280 feet in the air
  • The Supreme Flight: 10,000 feet in the air

Is there an age restriction?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years old in order to fly.

Is there a weight limit?
Yes. You must weigh under 240 lbs. to fly.

What should I wear?
Because of the altitudes you will be flying at, it is recommended that you wear close-toed shoes and socks. Long pants and a light jacket or sweatshirt are advised if you get cold easily.

When is the best time to fly?
We fly anytime the weather allows us to fly. The best conditions for flying are in smooth air and calm winds, generally in the early morning or late in the afternoon.

What is a self-launching hang glider?
Also called a ‘trike’, it is an FAA-certified Light Sport Aircraft that features a hang gliding wing and weight shift operation. It flies much like a traditional hang glider, but is powered by a reliable aircraft engine.

Trikes provide the experience of traditional hang gliding, but are more capable of flying safely in a wider range of weather conditions. Trikes also have other advantages in comfort (big, cushy seats) and safety (BMW-engineered steel safety cage), and they enable longer airtime.

How safe is powered hang gliding?
We have a 100% safety record and our trikes are incredibly strong. For your safety and peace of mind, our trikes are furthermore outfitted with a ballistic parachute system. But most importantly, we simply don’t fly in marginal conditions. After all, it’s all about having fun!

What happens if the engine quits?
A trike is a powered hang glider, designed for flight with or without power. At Hang Glide Orlando, the engine is only used to climb to altitude. Then we turn off the engine and silently glide back down to earth.

Is the engine loud?
The engine is a Rotax 912, 4 stroke engine with silencer kit designed for noise reduction. In addition to the sound reduction features, you will also be wearing an intercom headset which not only allows you clear in-flight communication but also reduces outside sound.
