The room itself was clean and spacious with plenty of room for 6! My biggest complaint was how far the resort was from Universal. I booked through a Universal package as a partner hotel, it took over 45 minutes every day to get from the hotel to the parks. I wish this had been clearer. There also isn't anything near, don't choose if you don't plan on having a car through your stay. The shuttle was great on the first day and the second morning after that they started picking up from other hotels and took over an hour each way. Shuttles only run once in am and once in evening. They will be stopping shuttles starting Jan 1. Not a big deal, but fyi if you book through Universal as a package you can't get Hilton points for your stay.

"Not a typical Hilton run property"

I will start by saying that usually when we stay at a Hilton resort, it enhances our trip. It doesn't take away from it. This time, when we checked in, there was an upset couple at the front desk who said their door was broken and they had asked four times for someone to come fix it or to be moved to a different room w a door that locked because it was unsafe. They asked to speak to a supervisor and were refused. When we left the front desk, they still had not received a new room or gotten the door fixed. This was the first red flag. When we got to our unit, it was unusually warm and had an old musty smell. We immediately opened the balcony doors and turned down the air to cool the room. I got in the shower and there was hair in it. Obviously, the room had not been used in a while and the last time it was used, it was not properly cleaned. We rented a room for 8 people and they gave us only 6 towels, so we immediately had to contact guest services and ask for something. Over the next 24 hours the temperature in the room continued to rise, despite the fact that it was cold outside and we had the air on. We contacted guest services and they said they would send someone right away. Hours later, after waiting to take the kids to the pool, take a shower, go to dinner, etc. because maintenance was coming "right away" I checked with them and they said he was still coming. He finally did at 8:00 that night. He couldn't fix it and over the next 24 hours maintenance came and went from our room 5 times before we told them not to bother us again. We would just suffer through it until checkout, rather than be constantly interrupted on vacation and worry about having our valuables stolen when we weren't in the room. There is a sign in the room on the safe saying that even if you lock the room or put things in the safe, the resort isn't liable for anything that is stolen, so if their employees enter a locked room and steal your things, the resort refuses to take responsibility. We left early for the parks and scheduled the day so the kids could be back in time for bingo by the pool. They love that. BINGO was on the schedule for 3:30. Usually at Hilton resorts, the activities staff will start setting up for that around 2:40. At 3:35 I asked the bartender (the only staff around) if this was where bingo was happening today or if I misunderstood (even though it was in writing on the schedule). He threw up his hand and said "I don't know! I don't know nothing about that!" Another family overheard and said they had already texted guest services several times asking about it because they came to the activities the day before and noone ever showed up to do them. At 3:40 they had not received a reply and we left, disappointed. When we went to rent tennis equipment, the man at the activities desk tried to flirt with me the entire time in front of my family, ignoring my spouse and kids. He ignored the questions my kids asked. It made us very uncomfortable and was basically the opposite of a typical activity staff that would be friendly and professional to everyone. Each time we went back to the room, the elevators and stairways smelled strongly of marijuana. I'm not sure if it's the reason the staff here is so lacking, or if it was the guests. Our room had a coffee maker, but no coffee pot. If I hadn't needed to contact guest services for the towels, the activities, and the maintenance already, I may have tried to get a coffee pot, but I didn't think they would take care of it and just went without coffee instead. This is not a property we would consider staying at again. Our time here took AWAY from our vacation, rather than adding to it.

We traveled here for a lacrosse tournament and Mystic Dunes was our required “stay to play” location. I did not have high hopes. However, our two bedroom suite was spacious and clean and so affordable. We enjoyed our nights very much!

This is a fabulous resort! We loved our stay. The apartments were spacious and in excellent condition. We loved the pools and the gym. The resort was quiet and well kept. We saw tropical birds, an armadillo & a raccoon on the grounds. There is a walmart just down the road. The photos I took were in the evening so they don’t show just how lovely the apartment was. The drive to Disney and Sea World were really easy. I loved our stay and highly recommend it. I really hope I can come back and stay here. I read the reviews of so many places, but I’m so glad I chose this resort! We had no hard sell and staff were super helpful.
