Wildlife fans will have the time of their lives on the Birds and Wildlife of Oahu tour. Follow expert birding guides to discover native and exotic wildlife species on a private access forest reserve, beaches, wetlands, and other natural areas of the island. Along the way, keep an eye out for the Hawaiian Monk Seal, Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, and other endangered island species.

Description

Take advantage of this tour’s exclusive access to private lands while expert birding guides show you the wildlife of Oahu. Begin your birding expedition at the coast to orient you with the district's cultural and natural history. Then track native and exotic species that can’t be found anywhere else in North America on a private access forest reserve high in the Waianae Mountains. Here, you will be able to visit one of the last habitats of the Oahu Elepaio.

Enjoy lunch from a scenic view point as your knowledgeable guide shares the history and present state of unique Hawaiian birds. After lunch you will cruise through some of the best sighting spots to see the endangered sea wildlife and coastal birds.

Highlights:
• Access private land that is exclusive to Hawaii Forest & Trail to visit one of the last habitats of the Oahu Elepaio.
• Bird from high elevation to sea level to see a wide range of species and habitats.
• During certain times of the year, we'll take advantage of opportunities to find seasonal visitors such as the Laysan Albatross, Pacific Golden Plover, and Bristle-Thighed Curlew.
• Along the coast, we'll also keep an eye out for rare sea life, including the critically endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal.

Schedule: Tours depart daily from all Koolina resorts and select Waikiki locations. Duration: 10 hours

Rated: Easy to moderate; short walks varying in length from .5 mile to 1.5 miles

Included in the Tour: All entry fees, breakfast & lunch (deli sandwich), day-packs, binoculars, rain gear, walking staffs, and water.

Breakfast: Coffee & Tea with locally made poi banana bread
Lunch: Your choice of deli fresh sandwiches. (Turkey, Tuna, Italian Sub, Veggie Hummus Wrap)

Group Size: Tour limited to 12 guests

What to bring & wear: Closed toes comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket

Restrictions: Guests on this tour should not be physically challenged or unable to walk short distances on uneven and rocky terrain.
