This place is difficult to review since it is so huge, and every tower is different. We stayed in the Tapa Tower, so this is specific to that tower. The only reason we stayed here is because of Hilton points since there are no other actual Hilton resort options on Oahu (there is a Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn, but they are definitely not resorts). Note: We stayed at both Sheraton Waikiki and Royal Hawaiian recently, so if you can swing the price, definitely go there instead - better in all respects. Beware: Some sites indicate that the Rainbow Tower has been renovated, but it is definitely still under construction (during the day), so if you happen to be able to stay there be aware. It is also unpleasant on the beach around there since there is so much construction ongoing. The bad: We had an "ocean view" room, meaning that if you are standing on the balcony you can glimpse the ocean (see photo). If you're merely in the room, you can only view a nice building. The room was supposedly recently renovated, but it didn't show. The first thing we noticed was the room fridge was broken, so we had to call to get a new one (the water from the old fridge spilled so we had to contend with a wet carpet for a few days). We had 4 of us staying, but only 3 towels were provided. The sliding door to the outside didn't close properly, so noise was a problem as we faced the busy Ala Moana Blvd. The A/C didn't cycle off so we had to manually turn it off and open the door to warm up the room (obviously not very energy efficient). And the ice maker, conveniently located right outside our door, was out of commission the entire stay (8 nights - see photo)! Parking is hugely expensive so we parked at the Hale Koa lot across the street at the monthly rate (amazing deal). The good: Location. Right on a beautiful (if slightly artificial) stretch of beach. However, depending on what you want to do, location could be a disadvantage since it is a good walk to more bustling part of Waikiki, say between the Sheraton and the Hyatt. But if beach access is what you're looking for this is hard to beat, even staying at one of the further towers like Tapa or Kalia, since there is no street to cross to get to the beach. Of course the food is expensive, but we ate at the Tropics and Bali restaurants for dinner and were pleased with both. There were many restaurants we didn't have a chance to try. The shopping and other amenities were good.

"Thanksgiving Getaway"

We stayed here 4 days over the Thanksgiving holiday. I am a Gold member and received all of the benefits that I was entitled to. All of the staff that I delt with was very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did an awesome job during our stay. The grounds were nice for such a large property (it is huge). I stayed in the Tapa tower and was upgraded to partial ocean view. The room was fairly large and we enjoyed every inch of it. I spent a lot of time at the Tapa Bar listening to live music every evening. We ate at multiple restaurants on the property and the experience was good. The adult pool was relaxing and walking around the property was very pleasant. The ABC stores on the property is very convenient and have great prices. I would stay again if I was to return to Waikiki.

"Great view from the Rainbow Tower Oceanfront room"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed January 14, 2026 NEW
We stayed in the Rainbow Tower oceanfront room. Our experience was excellent. The view from the room was straight down the beach. The village is large with plenty of shopping and restaurants. The village is not right on Waikiki beach it is down a bit. That is good and bad. It is walkable to everywhere, so a car is not really necessary except to go to other parts of the island. Every tour we went on had a pickup directly at the village somewhere.
