The housekeeping staff here are truly wonderful - always warm and welcoming, greeting me with a smile and an "aloha" in the hallway. They did a fantastic job keeping the room tidy and refreshing our towels during service. That said, only two towels were provided which can be tricky for two people. I need a whole extra towel just for my long hair! We stayed in a guest room with two queen beds, which worked fine for two adults, though the space is definitely on the smaller side. The bathroom is compact with minimal counter space. While the room could certainly use a refresh in some aspects (looking at you, TV), the beds are comfortable and everything was clean and surprisingly quiet. Unfortunately, the peace didn't last the final two nights of our stay. We were abruptly awakened by the fire alarm twice - once around 1:30 am, which forced us to evacuate, and after returning to the room took me hours to fall back asleep. I thought this was a one-time fluke, but it happened again the very next night. Thankfully, the second time didn't require evacuation, but it definitely rattled our nerves. I've also read other reviews where early check ins are sometimes available and accommodated, and since I arrived around noon with a splitting headache after my flight, I was eager to get to my room ASAP to rest. A room was available, but I still had to pay the $50 early check-in fee (plus tax) to get to my room 3 hours early. While it was worth it in that moment, if rooms are available, it would be great to have that fee waived. As always, delicious cookie provided at check in.

"Beware noisy road on mountain side"

I recently stayed at this hotel using 45,000 points and had a mostly pleasant experience, though there are a few things to be aware of. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable, making for a good night’s rest—if you’re on the right side of the building. Even-numbered rooms on the mountain side face a busy street with constant traffic noise and frequent sirens from emergency vehicles. This can be quite disruptive, especially at night. My original room had a non-working shower, but the staff responded quickly and moved me to a new room. I was offered a suite upgrade for $60/night, but not all suites are created equal—room 1220, for example, is noticeably smaller than others like 1118, with just a small sitting area. Ice machines are located on even-numbered floors, but the one on the 12th floor was out of order. Most frustrating was the false fire alarm, which went off daily between 4 and 5 am during my stay. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing early check-in and a 1 pm late checkout for Gold and Diamond members. Great location—easy walk to the beach and downtown. Check out the Tiki Bar and Grill for happy hour.

The beds are always great at the Doubletree. We got the breakfast package and it was very good. I just wish they had vegetables or salad for breakfast. Grace was wonderful. She gave me replacement coffee pods every day and offered to change out the towels everybody seem to be pleasant and happy working at the Doubletree.

Second stay in the last year. I noticed that there were improvements in my room. Exceptionally comfortable bed, quiet, and although the bathroom is small but nicely appointed and comfortable. The food is amazing at Trees. The restaurant off the lobby. The burgers are always on the spot and delicious. If you go, make sure you ask for Daisy. She is the most pleasant, friendly, and all-around amazing server. She should be cloned. She was the only server on Thursday night, and it got quite busy. She never missed a beat, kept smiling, and really kicked butt. The hotel needs to make sure she stays and should clearly consider her for management! Preston and Kim, and Wendy at the front desk are all outstanding and most welcoming group. Overall, I give this hotel a 5

What’s the point of having DND signs if they still enter your room??? I was at a time share presentation while my 21 month old was taking a nap and my wife was in the bedroom. The DND sign was on the door. She heard a knock that sounded far away. 10 seconds later security entered the room shining a flashlight on my daughter! Her heart was pumping so fast! No where do they tell you they will enter your room if they leave the DND sign on too long! I’ve never had that at any other hotel I’ve stayed at! What if we were naked or in bed??? Invasion of privacy much?? On top of it, isnt it odd they came in the room while I was on my presentation, out of all the times?? They probably thought no one was in there! Suspicious. Would not stay here again. Apparently it’s Hilton’s policy, but was unable to produce the policy when asked. They need to inform their guests upon check in.
