"Mmmmm... think twice!"

The staff were very friendly but I might have had a better experience elsewhere. The website needs to be updated desperately with newer info about what time to arrive, post COVID participation, and seating based on weight. The couple I was riding with was SUPER late despite the site saying no late arrivals would be permissible. They also split us based on weight which made it uncomfortable.

For the first time I flew with a helicopter together with my wife and daughter (12 years old). Professional staff, from the arrival at the airport, the pre-flight briefing and the flight itself. Extraordinary experience, which I recommend to everyone.

Overall, a good experience. Helicopter was very basic. Pilot was non communicative, but skilled. Calling it a "tour" is misleading. Would be nice if the pilot could point out where you are in the city, some of the landmarks and any points of interest.

Frequently Asked Questions about Toronto Heli Tours

Where do the tours depart?

Toronto Heli Tours is at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport which is located on an island overlooking Lake Ontario and just minutes from downtown Toronto. Because the airport is on an island, you can choose to take the pedestrian tunnel to the airport or the 90-second ferry ride across Toronto’s inner harbor that departs from the foot of Bathurst Street 15 minutes.

When should we arrive to check in?

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your confirmed flight time.

How do I get to the airport?

Because the airport is on an island, you can choose to take the pedestrian tunnel to the airport or the 90-second ferry ride across Toronto’s inner harbor that departs from the foot of Bathurst Street 15 minutes. The ferry is $14 roundtrip for vehicles and is free for pedestrians. Look for parking lot P3 to your left once you exit the ferry. If you are a pedestrian, when you exit the ferry you will head towards the Departures area of the terminal which is on the second floor. You will need to proceed downstairs to the main floor.

How much is parking at the airport?

Parking rates on the airport run from $4 per 20 minutes to a maximum of $34 per 24 hours, plus a $14 roundtrip ferry fee. Look for parking lot P3 to your left once you exit the ferry. There is some free parking available on the streets around Bathurst Street, however, it may be difficult to find an empty spot. There is also paid parking. The closest is the Express Park at the Canada Malting plant on the East side of Eiraean Quay (short walk to the ferry). The next closest is at 9 Stadium Road just west of Bathurst street (takes 5 minutes to walk from there to the ferry).

Once at the airport, how do I find Toronto Heli Tours?

From the ground floor (arrivals area) of the terminal building exit to the outside. Proceed straight across the traffic circle in front of you. On the other side of the traffic circle, you will see a building with the name Stolport above the entrance.

What will we see?

You will see everything from the historical to the ultra modern. Old Fort York, Spadina House, Clairmont House, Casa Loma, University of Toronto, Royal Ontario Museum, the Eaton Centre, Old and New City Halls, Maple Leaf Gardens as well as the new home of the Maple Leafs, the Air Canada Centre, the Royal York, the Rogers Centre, and of course the CN Tower.

Can we take pictures?

Yes, helicopter flights offer an ideal platform for both video and still photography. During the boarding process, you will be asked to refrain from taking photos until you are seated in the helicopter. You can bring only one camera on the tour. For safety reasons, they cannot allow attachments like selfie sticks or mounts, camera bags or additional lenses. All camera must have a strap worn around the neck.

How high will we fly?

Toronto Heli Tours fly at 2,000 feet above sea level, providing a great view of the city and its surrounds.

How long are the flights?

Toronto Heli Tours offers a variety of different flightseeing tours. City Tour 1 and the Romantic Jewel flights will get you into the sky for 6 to 8 minutes. Enough time to fill a roll of film with great shots of the downtown core of Toronto. Especially at 110 miles per hour and no traffic! The City Tour 2, the Gold Romantic Flight and The Romantic Interlude flights are between 12 and 14 minutes in the air.

How many people can fly together?

Toronto Heli Tours' helicopter can seat 3 passengers and 1 pilot per flight. There are 2 seats in the back and 1 seat up front with the pilot. Every seat is a window seat and every seat has a great view.

Is there an age limit?

All passengers must be over three (3) years of age. There is no upper age limit.

Is there a weight limit?

The maximum weight per seat is 260lbs and the maximum weight of all three passengers is 600lbs. The easiest way to look at it is that you must be able to put on a standard size seat belt. At the time of booking you will be asked for your weight.

Can I Bring a Bag or Purse With me?

As there is no place to store anything, no loose articles are permitted on board for the flight, only a camera or mobile phone. Lockers are provided for you to store purses or small bags prior to boarding which you can lock up and keep the key with you until you return.

Are Toronto helicopter tours wheelchair accessible?

These tours are not wheelchair accessible.

Do I have to show an I.D. before boarding?

Because these helicopter tours are operated out of an airport in downtown Toronto, every passenger that flies must bring with them a valid photo I.D. This photo I.D. will have to be presented to airport security just prior to boarding. Anyone who is not able to show photo I.D. will not be able to fly but will still be charged the full seat price (it is like a last minute cancellation). Photo I.D. can be in the form of a passport, driver’s license, health card, or student card. Children without a student card will not have to provide I.D. as long as they are with an adult who can vouch for them.

What about the weather?

Toronto Heli Tours require at least 6 statue miles of visibility, a cloud base of at least 2,000 feet and no falling snow. If there are low clouds and/or low visibility and/or high winds they will contact you to reschedule your flight or issue a full refund. Only the chief pilot can cancel flights for these reasons.
