The aquarium is just beautiful - It's not big enough for whales but they have an extensive collection and there is a focus on education. We went first thing in the morning and it wasn't very busy. We bought a package that included the CN Tower and it was much cheaper.

We had such an amazing time at the aquarium in Toronto! It’s a fantastic place for kids — so beautiful, huge, and full of interesting things to see. But honestly, it’s not just for children, it’s enjoyable for everyone, no matter the age. There’s so much to explore, and every area feels exciting and different. The exhibits are fascinating, and the whole experience is both fun and educational. Definitely a place worth visiting!

"Fantastic underwater tunnel"

There are many interesting exhibits in the aquarium. We loved the dangerous lagoon watching the sharks and turtles in the underground tunnel. We also saw feeding of the stingrays and that was very interesting. The aquarium is well set up. We went on a school day in January. While there was a school group excursion, the aquarium was not very crowded and that was great.

"Fun experience – and lots for kids to do"

From top to bottom, a very interesting aquarium. The environments are very naturalistic. The animals looked quite active and healthy, and lived in settings and with structures that mimicked their natural environment through rocks, plants, corals, etc. You’ll see both local species and exotic ones, river and ocean ones. Each area is sectioned out, and like species are with like, so that you can see how they would interact in the wild. The focus on showcasing an entire ecosystem as opposed to just an animal was way cooler and more educational for me. They even have interactive exhibits, like stingray petting. There was an element of storytelling to each exhibit. My favourite was the jellyfish, where they showed the entire reproductive cycle with great beauty. The information panels give lots of detail on fish behaviours, diets, and protection efforts, which I appreciated. It’s my understanding that Ripley’s does participate in species conservation – very cool. I also appreciate the signs discourage glass tapping and other intrusive behaviors. The layout is linear: you can go one way and one way only through the entire aquarium. That keeps you getting lost and ensures you see everything. As a bonus, there’s a little pitstop for your kids to enjoy that includes ice cream, a playground, and more.
