Frequently Asked Questions about Key West Hop-On Hop-Off Trolley Tour

How long does a full tour of the Key West take if I don't get on and off at all?

With 13 stops and 100 points of interest, this Key West Old Town Trolley Tour is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes if you ride the tour all the way around without getting off and on. Some of the sights to see are Duval Street, Key West Aquarium, and the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory.

Where can I start my tour?

This is a Key West hop on hop off trolley tour. You can begin your tour at any of their stops. Please refer to their Key West Map on their website to find the location closest to you.

How often do trolleys come to each stop?

Their trolleys come by approximately every 30 minutes, though times may vary slightly due to traffic conditions. Depending on demand and the time of year, their in-field dispatchers often put more trolleys in the tour loop at an increased frequency.

What if the trolley does not have available seats when I want to re-board?

During peak times, they cannot guarantee that each trolley will have available seats. Their in-field dispatchers will send another trolley directly to the stop for guests that were unable to board. The trolleys will usually arrive in less than 15 minutes.

How many times can I go through the loop?

You may ride the Old Town Trolley Tour around as many times as you wish and as long as you want. However, they recommend that you get off and on as you go and take advantage of the sights.

Can I bring my stroller on board the trolley?

Yes, the trolley can accommodate strollers but they must be collapsible and will be stored up front with the conductor. Strollers in the aisle ways would constitute a safety hazard. For the safety of the child, it is never allowed for the baby to ride in the stroller through the tour.

Are the trolleys handicap accessible for individuals with hearing impediments, wheelchairs and motorized scooters?

Please make their CAST members aware if you require accommodations. They will gladly provide a tour script guide upon request. If the guest is ambulatory, collapsible wheelchairs can be accommodated at any time. They will fold them and stow them during the tour. Guests may board and disembark at any stop. If a guest is non-ambulatory or has a non-collapsible chair/scooter, they do have several trolleys equipped with hydraulic lifts. For the safety of the guest, the lift can be deployed at stops 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 10 (Mallory Square, Mac’s SeaGarden, Simonton Row, Roosevelt Depot, Hampton Inn, and the Casa Marina.) They request that you give them as much notice as possible as to your arrival date and the time you’d like to take the tour (24 hours preferred) through their website. Please arrive at your pre arranged stop no less than 15 minutes prior to your departure time so that they can accomplish the loading process smoothly and safely. This means that you will need to secure your own transportation to one of these locations and that you cannot utilize the ON/OFF privileges on the tour.

Are dogs allowed on the Key West Old Town Trolley tours?

Service animals are the only animals that are allowed on board the trolleys. A service animal means a dog, regardless of breed or type, that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Animal species other than dogs, emotional support animals, comfort animals, companionship animals, and service animals in training are not service animals.

How knowledgeable are the conductors about Key West?

Throughout the tour, knowledgeable trolley tour guides offer an amusing, historic account of many of the most well-known Key West events and sights; it’s their own unique brand of Transportainment!

Are the tours narrated?

Yes, the Old Town Trolley is fully narrated by knowledgeable, expert guides. No pre-recordings. All tours will be in English.

Are the trolleys enclosed?

The trolleys are open-air vehicles but have plastic “isinglass” windows that can roll up or roll down depending on the weather conditions.

Does the tour still operate in inclement weather?

Yes, the tours operate rain or shine, hot or cold, year-round. Old Town Trolley uses heated trolleys that are glass-enclosed specifically for the colder weather. Occasionally, they are forced to close operations for safety reasons, due to extreme conditions such as blizzards.

Can I bring my luggage onboard?

Space on the trolleys is limited, but in some cases, it may be acceptable to bring a small suitcase on board. Bear in mind that the trolleys are designed specifically for sightseeing and therefore contain limited storage space (as compared to motor coaches).

Are food and drinks allowed while on the tour?

Food and drinks are welcome. However alcoholic beverages are not allowed under any circumstance for the safety and comfort of all of their guests.

Is there parking anywhere?

Parking on a 2 mile by 4 mile island can be difficult. Their tour route and stops are at convenient locations all around the island, within walking distance of most major hotels and attractions.
