Description

The Memorial Mission
Remember and honor the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993, and September 11, 2001.

Respect this place made sacred through tragic loss.

Recognize the endurance of those who survived, the courage of those who risked their lives to save others, and the compassion of all who supported us in our darkest hours.

May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the spirit reawakened be eternal beacons, which reaffirm respect for life, strengthen our resolve to preserve freedom, and inspire an end to hatred, ignorance, and intolerance.

"Humbling experience"
July 2018
Please make sure you get advance tickets on line before going to the exhibit. You bypass the long lines of people waiting to purchase tickets. The exhibit is so well done. It is truly humbling and respectfully done. I took an 18 & 16 year old boys who took everything in with amazement. Considering they weren't born when 9/11happened the museum gave them an upfront historic moment they will remember forever. The hall with all the pictures of those lost gave them a prospective of the enormity of the day.

I walked into the building with 5 teenagers who saw no point, constantly chattering and not even really paying attention to what they were looking at nor listening to.. It was all of ours first time at the 9/11 memorial, we were in town for a choral performance at Carnegie Hall. There were many attractions to see in that busy town but 9/11 was a must... As we walked down the first long corridor to the bottom the girls began to ask a few questions about why the walls looked so weird and what was with the giant steel pillar... After quietly explaining where they were and to what they were looking at their bright bubbly smiles and laughter changed to somber expressions of solace and grief.. your memorial took 5 teenagers who really had no clue what 9/11, Afghanistan war, or Memorial day was all about and brought about an understanding like no other.. As they walked the halls and took in all the artifacts and read the plaques they began to cry and mourn for those lost and those left behind.. My most sombering moment was when one of my girl went to the wall where the bodies still remain and seemed to feel their spirits. She placed her hand on the wall and began to weep and pray.. The memorial truly touched them and changed them for the better.. There were so many moments in the building that brought about such emotion with these girls that I truly think they have a new found understanding for others then themselves.. Thank you for such a blessed, humble experience and I truly believe that every American should walk those halls.. my heart is saddened by the many lives lost but joyed by the coming together it brought about among our fellow Americans.. Thank you for a wonderful time, we will be back, there are parts we didn't get to see as we were with a large group and pressed for time..
