Reception was so friendly. we arrived at 3:30am and they were so welcoming. they did everything to help us with whatever we needed for example i needed to call someone and they helped me reach them. they had everything we needed.

"Unhealthy molds room plus no reaction from the hotel staff"

We were assigned room 1407, which was infested with mold and clearly dangerous for our family’s health. Because we arrived late at 21:30, I was not able to inspect the room properly at first, but the unhealthy smell was immediately noticeable. The following morning, I discovered extensive mold on both sides of the window frame. I immediately reported this to the hotel manager, and we were moved to room 1009. However, the real issue is that the staff showed no concern whatsoever, and not a single person offered even an apology for putting us in such a hazardous room. Before leaving on August 22, I spoke directly with the manager on duty and made it absolutely clear that the points I had paid for the moldy room must be refunded. He promised to handle it, yet more than a week has now passed with no action taken. Today I called the hotel again, asked to speak to the manager on duty, and after 25 minutes of waiting on hold, no one answered. It is obvious that the supervisors in this hotel do not care at all about guest safety or customer service.

The hotel staff is outstanding, and the location is perfect for both business trips and families, thanks to its location in Chelsea. The property consistently impresses with its cleanliness and maintenance. The rooms are inviting, the beds are comfortable, and the lobby exudes a warm atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy a patio area where they can unwind during pleasant evenings in NYC. While I would rate most front desk staff, particularly Destiny, a solid 5 stars, one employee unfortunately falls short and deserves just 1 star. His frequent distraction by his phone and lack of acknowledgment towards guests upon arrival or after a long day of exploring the city negatively impacts the service. On a positive note, both the maintenance and engineering teams, as well as the cleaning staff and breakfast attendants, deserve well-earned 5-star ratings. If I could give them a 10-star review, I would! Regrettably, the General Manager receives a mere 1 star. I have shared my concerns with IHG, as she rarely acknowledges guests at check-in and completely ignores 95% of them. Simple gestures like "hello", "Welcome", or "thank you for choosing us" could make a significant difference when arriving or during departure. I’ve observed what appeared to be her reprimanding a front desk employee on the patio and overheard her what seemed to be yelling from behind the front desk. If you glance into the office area, behind the front desk, you’ll find notes hanging from the shelf, marked in RED INK that convey a harsh and condescending tone. This approach fails to motivate STAFF and leaves a NEGATIVE impression on GUESTS during check-in and check-out. It’s essential to foster a positive environment and ensure that guests do not witness such reprimands during their stay. As a Diamond Member with IHG, this behavior is unacceptable and, most importantly, unprofessional. This has left me to rethink my next business trips to NYC and the choices of hotels, which will likely not be the Holiday Inn at Chelsea on 6th.
