Description

Just beyond the candy-colored buildings of the Art Deco District and the downtown skyscrapers is the must-see garden and museum in Miami where the early days of the Magic City are beautifully preserved in architecture and in spirit.

Villa Vizcaya, once the winter residence of industrialist James Deering, was designed as a palatial Italian Villa on tropical Biscayne Bay. The fabulous Villa Vizcaya is one of Miami's National Historic Landmarks and provides a window into the past. It preserves an interesting collection of European art and introduces visitors to a place in time when America's wealthiest industrialists created lavish homes inspired by the palaces of Europe. It is surrounded by a stunning landscape and an orchid garden that will transport you to a Golden Age, around 100 years ago. Don't miss the views of the Bay from the backyard.

What are the hours of operation?

Vizcaya is open 9:30am to 4:40 pm, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

What should I wear?

All visitors must remain fully clothed at all times. Bathing suits, mesh, or sheer clothing are not permitted. For your safety, footwear is required while walking around the house and gardens.

Is transportation included?

Roundtrip transportation from Miami Beach and Downtown Hotels is included.

Are wheelchair rentals available? If so, what is the fee?

Wheelchairs are available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis. When you arrive, please inform the Admissions attendant of your wish to borrow a wheelchair. They will notify a security officer to have one ready by the Service Area next to the Main House.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

The first floor of the Main House is accessible with a lift located near the public restrooms on the Southside of the house. Please ask at Admissions or the front door of the Main House for staff to assist with the lift. Many of the gardens are also accessible.

Can I bring my camera?

Visitors may not reproduce photographs of the gardens or collection for commercial purposes without prior authorization.

How long is the tour?

The tour is four (4) hours long.

Can I bring my pet?

In accordance with titles II and III of the ADA, Vizcaya welcomes service dogs only. Service dogs must be housebroken as well as harnessed, leashed, or tethered to their accompanying individual.
