Sesame Place® San Diego features 7 Sesame Street-themed rides, an interactive musical play area, and 11 water attractions (seasonal) including a 500,000-gallon wave pool – one of the largest in Southern California.

The park has an interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood complete with the iconic 123 Stoop, live character shows, an award-winning daily parade, unique photo opportunities, and everyone's favorite furry friends!

Bring the entire family to whirl on rides, splash down slides, and sing and dance along with their Sesame Street friends at Sesame Place San Diego. Conveniently located just 20 minutes from San Diego and 2.5 hours from Los Angeles, this 17-acre theme park will be perfect for families with kids of all ages and is a Certified Autism Center.

New to open in Summer of 2023: Sesame Place San Diego to Make a Big Splash in 2023 with Two New Attractions. The entire family will splash and play at the ALL-NEW Count’s Splash Castle, a multi-level water-play attraction with 111 play elements, including two giant tipping buckets that dump over 1,300 gallons of water combined. There are three exciting water slides, plus soakers, flow pipes, hose jets, spray jets, water shooters, water curtains, tipping troughs, spinning and sliding buckets, and much more! Also, an ALL-NEW Sesame Street character dining experience with the opening of the Sunny Day Café. Guests can join their favorite furry friends for a dining adventure the whole family will love! How much is parking?

Where is accessible parking?

Accessible Parking (Car/Van): $30 Accessible parking spaces are available directly in front of the main entrance for guests with a valid parking permit for disability parking. Vehicles should display an accessible parking permit to the tollbooth employee. Most spaces for guests with disabilities are accessible to vans. Spaces are limited and often sell out, so we recommend you arrive early. A wheelchair or an electric wheelchair can be arranged to be brought to your vehicle based upon availability by notifying a parking attendant upon your arrival.

Is there a place to store my belongings inside the park?

Lockers are conveniently located at the front of the park. Lockers are self-service and may be purchased on the day of your visit.

Can I bring my own food and beverages into Sesame Place?

No outside food, beverages, or coolers are allowed to be brought into Sesame Place, except you may bring a bottle of water or a refillable water bottle. Exceptions may be made for guests with special dietary needs, including food allergies and baby food/formula. Guest should contact Guest Relations 3 days prior to their visit to make accommodations for special dietary needs and exemptions to our outside food policy. Guest should contact Park Security or Guest Services when they arrive at the Park for approval to bring in special dietary foods.

Is there a water bottle refill station?

Yes, the water bottle refill station is located behind Grover’s Grill.

Does Sesame Place accommodate for food allergies?

For guests with special dietary needs, we offer a variety of allergy friendly options throughout the park. You may stop by Guest Services, or any of our dining locations, to pick up an Allergen Card with more details on our Allergy Friendly program and culinary options for those with allergies.

Are there bicycle racks available?

Bicycle racks for your use are conveniently located outside, south of the main gate.

Are Segways permitted in the park?

Sesame Place is committed to providing guests a safe and enjoyable experience. Because of different pathway configuration and terrain as well as large crowds that include small children and strollers, we regret that we cannot permit the use of two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicles such as Segways. We are pleased to offer other forms of personal transportation, including electric convenience vehicles and standard wheelchairs and we encourage you to contact Guest Services with any question you may have.

Does Sesame Place have ATMs?

Yes. There is an ATM inside the park near the lockers which are located near the front of the park.

What is the Cashless Wristband?

With Cashless Wristbands you can make purchases all day without carrying cash. Simply use your credit card or cash to set up a spending account. In return, you’ll be issued waterproof wristbands for the whole family. Use it to charge purchases throughout the park. Your account will automatically settle at the end of each day. It’s a smart and convenient way to swim, slide, splash, eat and ride without worrying about misplacing your cash or credit cards. To sign up, simply present your credit card of choice to pre-authorize $50. When this amount is used, the system will automatically pre-authorize for another $50. You can also set up a Cashless Wristband using cash. Cashless Wristbands are a courtesy service and there are no charges to use the program.

Where does the parade take place?

The parade takes place on the street between Cookie’s Monster Mixer and Sesame Souvenirs.

Can children go to Sesame Place without a parent or guardian?

Guests 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 and over. Many rides and attractions have height requirements and children under a certain height will be required to ride with a supervising companion, 14 years or older.

Do you allow pets in the park?

Service Animals are welcome at Sesame Place. Service Animals are limited to dogs and miniature horses that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times, unless such leash or harness interferes with the service the animal is providing, or the handler is unable to use a leash or harness due to his/her disability. The animal also must be housebroken.

What if I need to leave the park to get something out of my car? Can I get back into the park?

Upon exiting to the parking lot, guests who wish to re-enter the park on the day of their visit must have their admission ticket or Season Pass and proceed through bag check areas. Guests will then proceed to turnstiles where the ambassador will validate your admission ticket and allow you re-entry.

Does Sesame Place have heated pools?

Enjoy heated resort pools at Big Bird’s Beach, Big Bird’s Rambling River, The Count’s Splash Castle, Elmo’s Silly Sand Slides, and Abby’s Paradise Pool.

Does Sesame Place provide towels?

Sesame Place does not provide towels and guests should plan to bring their own. Souvenir towels are also available for purchase in Hooper’s Store and Sesame Souvenirs.

Does Sesame Place provide life vests?

Safety is our top concern, so it is recommended that riders 42" and under wear a life vest. Life vests are required at many attractions based on height. Please see specific regulation signs posted outside the attractions for more information. Sesame Place San Diego provides United States Coast Guard (USCG) Type III life vests in a variety of sizes and Type II for infants free of charge throughout the park. Only USCG Type II or III life vests may be worn; floatation devices such as noodles, swimmies, in-suit floatation devices, personal swim rings/floats and boogie boards are not permitted. Personal life vests that are in good condition and clearly marked approved by the USCG (Type II or III) may be worn at Sesame Place San Diego if approved and tagged by our staff. Does the park close for inclement weather?

Sesame Place San Diego remains open during inclement weather, although some of the park's rides and attractions may be temporarily affected. Refunds will not be issued due to inclement weather.

What is your weather policy?

Sunny Day Guarantee Policy: If weather affected ride operations or impacts the park’s operating hours, visit Guest Services to exchange your ticket for a Sunny Day ticket. A Sunny Day ticket is valid for a return visit any operating day one year from the date issues. Guests who do not exchange their ticket on the date of their visit forfeit their Sunny Day tickets. Guests will receive on Sunny Day ticket for every paid admission ticket. Not valid on Season Passes, chaperone and complimentary tickets.

Is there free Wi-Fi for guests at Sesame Place?

Free Wi-Fi is available only to guests who reserve a cabana at this time.

Can I smoke at Sesame Place?

To protect and enhance our air quality and to contribute to the health and well-being of all guests, smoking is not permitted at Sesame Place San Diego.

Does Sesame Place have a dress code?

Sesame Place is a family destination and guests are required to wear appropriate clothing while in the park including shirts, shoes and pants/shorts. Proper swimwear is required on all water attractions. No bathing-suit thongs, cotton or nylon shirts/shorts (i.e. athletic or basketball shorts). Swim diapers are required for diaper-wearing children. Water shoes are recommended. Swim masks are not permitted. Swim goggles are permitted and may be purchased in our gift shops. Clothing with suggestive or explicit language or insulting statements is considered inappropriate Sesame Place park attire. Sesame Place reserves the right to refuse admission or ask anyone to leave who does not comply with these rules.

What are the security procedures upon park entry?

Sesame Place has security procedures, which may result in slight delays while entering the park. As a part of this process: All bags, backpacks and packages are subject to inspection prior to entering the park All persons are subject to screening for prohibited items using walk-through or hand-held metal detectors prior to entering the park As a reminder, the following items are not permitted to be brought into Sesame Place for the safety of our guests and Ambassadors: Weapons of any kind or objects that appear to be weapons (to include self-defense sprays, pocket knives, toy guns, squirt guns, water blasters, etc.)

Can I bring a wagon?

Wagons that have locking wheels and can be pushed are permitted in the park.

What items are prohibited at Sesame Place?

Sesame Place prohibits the following items to maintain a safe environment for all guests and Ambassadors: Weapons of any kind or objects that appear to be weapons (to include self-defense sprays, pocket knives, toy guns, squirt guns, water blasters, etc.) Articles of clothing with offensive language or images Flags, banners, signs, or voice amplification devices used for the purpose of conducting demonstrations or to incite a crowd Large markers, permanent pens and spray paint Water play toys such as inflatables, foam noodles and super soakers Recreational devices such as drones, remote-controlled toys, skateboards, scooters, shoes with built-in wheels, roller and inline skates Alcoholic beverages, marijuana, drug paraphernalia or other illegal substances Glass containers (excluding small baby food jars) and plastic straws Wheeled mobility devices with less than 3 wheels or devices that cannot maintain stability and balance when stopped, unpowered or unoccupied Fireworks and other flammable items Laser pens, laser pointers or similar focused light devices BBQs and picnic lunches Portable stereos and loud music Face covering on costumes for anyone 13 or older

What does admission include?

All slides, rides, pools, shows & parades are included with park admission. Cabanas and Front-of-the-Line Passes are available at an additional cost based on availability. Advanced reservations for upgraded experiences are recommended to reserve your spot and can be made online. You can also purchase food, merchandise, and rent lockers at the park.

Can we rent a wheelchair?

Standard wheelchairs and ECV Rentals are available on a first come, first serve basis: Standard Wheelchair rental: $20 per day Electric Wheelchair rental: $100 per day All Sesame Place employees are trained to provide assistance to all our guests, which include helping a guest transferring to or from a wheelchair. However, they are not trained, nor permitted, to lift guests in and out of wheelchairs.

What is your line-cutting policy?

Line cutting is prohibited at all rides, attractions and shows. Line cutting, for any reason, can result in ejection from the park. No refund will be issued. Sesame Place defines line cutting as: Cutting in front of guests who are already in line or saving a spot in line for another guest. Leaving a line, then attempting to re-enter at the same point. This includes leaving the line to use the bathroom or to place items in a locker. Please make all stops before entering the line.

What items am I allowed to bring with me on attractions?

Loose articles, such as hats, glasses, cameras, and bags are not permitted on any of our attractions and should be left with a non-rider or in a locker.

Can I use a camera on a ride or slide?

Hands-free cameras may be used on certain attractions at Sesame Place; all other cameras are not permitted on rides and slides. Hands-free cameras must be secured by a strap or harness and must be free of sharp objects. Head or helmet mounted cameras are not permitted. Hands-free camera should not impede rider from maintaining proper riding position. Hands-free cameras are permitted on Bert’s Topsy Turvy Tunnels, Ernie’s Twisty Turny Tunnels, Big Bird’s Ramblin’ River, Honker Dinger Dash, Oscar’s Rotten Rafts, and Cookie’s Monster Mixer.

Some rides required that a child be accompanied by a supervising companion. How is this defined?

A supervising companion is someone who is at least 14 years of age.

Is a Child Swap program available?

Sesame Place offers a Child Swap program. This program is helpful when one adult wants to ride with more than one child, but the ride does not allow the entire party to ride at the same time. Once at the front of the line, the adult can ride with one child while the other waits with a non-rider. Once the ride is complete, the children switch spots and the adult can ride with the other child without having to wait in line again. Please note that Sesame Place team members may not supervise children or ride with a child as part of the child swap program. A child swap must be done by a member of the party to allow the children to ride.
