Overview

An exciting and scenic experience for guests of many ages to enjoy together, Mendes Ranch and Trail Rides offers two scenic horseback rides through the Mendes Ranch Corral, down the edge of the valley and near the ocean shore. Guests can choose between the morning and afternoon rides, both lasting about an hour and a half. Both options offer the option of having photos taken at the coastline.

Good To Know

Ride duration: approx. 1.5 hours.
Check-ins at 8:45 am and 12:15 pm dependent upon trail ride reservation.
A tasty BBQ lunch is available for an additional fee.
Guests must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes in order to participate.
All riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Description

Let Mendes Ranch Take you on a journey through the green pastures of Kahakuloa down to the North Shore coastline of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy the spectacular views of central Maui and Mount Haleakala's summit and come meet our "local" ranch hands.

The 1-1/2 hour trail ride starts at the corral and takes you down the slope of Eki Crater as you head towards the coastline of the Pacific Ocean. There will be an opportunity for you to trot and canter your horse if you want to. On the Ocean Front Trail Ride, you may encounter longhorn cattle, sheep, goats, peacocks, pheasants, and turkeys among other animals. At the coastline, you will be given the opportunity for your guides to take photos of you with the majestic seascape in the background.

We are open daily with check-ins at 8:45 am and 12:15 pm.

Note: Long pants, close toe shoes and sunscreen recommended.

"Best thing we did in Maui!"

Riding a horse along the ocean was always on my bucket list. I am glad I chose the Mandes Ranch. The employees at the ranch were very friendly and helpful. The views that we saw on our ride were the best that we saw on our trip.

Tip: Make sure you let them know if you're a beginner or immediate writer. They will make sure To pair you up with the right horse!

How long is the horseback trail ride?
It is about 1 ½ hours of riding time. Plan on being at the ranch a total of 2 ½ hours.

How early should we check-in?
You should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your departure time. The morning rides start at 9:00 am and the afternoon rides are at 12:30 pm.

Is the BBQ Lunch included with the trail ride?
No, this is an additional cost that is optional for $30 + tax. The lunch starts at 11:30 am.

What should I wear?
We suggest wearing closed toed shoes and long pants. Bring sunscreen and a camera. At the coastline, our trail guides will take photos of you with the majestic seascape in the background.

What are the weight or age requirements?
The minimum age is 7 years old and maximum weight per rider is 250lbs. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Where are you located?
We are located in Wailuku, which is on the north side of Maui close to mile marker #7. From Lahaina, we are about a 45-minute drive.
