We’ve visited Las Vegas many times, but never with kids, and this was the first trip that I ever knew that Las Vegas has a Natural History Museum. It’s very easy to get to, just north of the strip. Plenty of parking. Entrance fees are very reasonable. We went specifically to see the dinosaurs, and that exhibit was amazing. The dinosaurs are so huge, and loud! The rest of the exhibits were diverse, and great too. Treasures of Egypt, Marine Life Gallery, African Savanna Gallery, International Wildlife Gallery, Wild Nevada Gallery, and the Prehistoric Mammals Gallery were all very interesting. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours with kids.

"Great small museum at a low cost"

To start off the excellent rating is what you get for hte price. This is a very resonable stop with lots of exhibits and some interactive ones as well. I was suprised by how many sound clips, smelling stations, videos and hands on exhibits this location has. You can see they put a lot of work into it. It does have a very strange mix of things but that is ok as you get a little of everything. You get a room that shows some scenes of animals, a rocks and minerals room, Egyption room, a rain forest display, dinosaurs, and even some live sharks and sting rays. Overall I felt like I got my money's worth. The staff was very friendly and you can tell they are are passionate about the work they do here. It certinaly is worth and hour of two of your time.

"This is a great small museum with Egyptian artifacts, dinosaurs and animal exhibits."

We had a great time here, but unfortunately did not have enough time to truly enjoy it all. There are a number of different types of exhibits here and they are all well done. The Egyptian exhibit is wonderful, it is a mock up of the tomb of King Tut. It is very well done with the tomb, Tut's sarcophagus, artifacts, a mummy, sculptures and bas-reliefs and other items. The dinosaur area is also well done with animatronic dinosaurs, fossils, exhibits and other items. There are several rooms with many stuffed mammals from Africa and North America and a sea exhibit as well. They have small museum shop as well. It is a little out of the way, but a great visit for families, couples and anyone who wants to spend a couple of hours doing something off the Strip.

"Very dated"

Took my kids here because we had free admission through our ASTC passport from our local science centre. This museum clearly has budget and/or funding issues. It looks like a museum that looks to have been unchanged from the 70’s. A decent selection of artifacts, but presented in a very plain and uninteresting manner. In some cases, there some animals on display but no signage describing what they were. My kids enjoyed maybe 2 or 3 pieces but given they have been to other similar museums, nothing really caught their attention. The only saving grace is the hard working staff and/or volunteers that support it. Admission is very cheap, but it’s probably the same reason they can’t make major improvements either. I would only recommend to families that have been to very few museums before.
