We spent several hours at the Atlanta Aquarium as a way to fill time in between other events. We were pleasantly surprised by how nicely put together this place is! It was truly great. What started as a time waster turned into a great experience!

Lots of peep holes and tanks. Some of the larger tanks seemed a little small for the aquatic life inside. The dolphin show was educational, not necessarily entertaining. Price of admission seemed a little high along with the cost for food, parking. Etc..

The aquarium is located in downtown Atlanta . It is a beautiful setting. During busy times of the year, be sure you get your tickets. The whale sharks and Manta rays are the highlight of the visit . I loved resting and relaxing watching these beautiful animals swimming leisurely through the tanks. There are many sections that are beautifully designed and offer fascinating data. There are exhibits all around the building. We spent about 2 hours visiting the facility. We were time limited but could have done more of the experiences. It is well worth a visit when you are in Atlanta

I'd been to the GA Aquarium a long time ago, but this was booked for a fresh out-of-town guest. We had a timed arrival (on a Saturday) and had to locate our own parking. We opted to explore the adjoining parking deck, and ended up scoring a spot on the top level (maybe we were lucky that they did not run out?). We descended the 7 staircases and exited to the plaza level where we entered the aquarium. You get your ticket scanned and then they try to take your photo (which you can avoid, though they seem annoyed if you do). You then enter into the main atrium. All the exhibits branch out from here. There are probably 8 - 10 side passages you can take. One, associated with Explorers, leads to the moving sidewalk / observation tube where you can see many sea creatures. There is also an associated glass wall where you can sit and observe them. Other side-quests include arctic creatures (penguins, etc.), one for sharks, one for alligators, one for tropical fish, etc. Some areas seemed to have side trips that (while free) you had to book separately. There were also apparently some up-charge private tours of some areas. We completed everything in about 2.5 hours, I think. It was interesting, especially if you like the sea or don't get to see aquariums much. They had a sign about paying before you exited, but we did not see any pay stations (?). Hence, we ended up paying as we left. This was a bit nightmarish, as there were 3 lanes of traffic into the payment area, but each pay station had a human taking the credit card (maybe they should go back to staffed toll booths?). We paid, and then had the exciting task of merging 3-to-1 lanes to exit. If you can park elsewhere, do yourself a favor and do that. This wasn't cheap, but was definitely a unique attraction. Depending on what you are interested in, this could definitely be worth checking out.
