Frequently Asked Questions about Rip-Roaring Adventures Pigeon River Rafting
What should I wear?
Different seasons call for different attires. When Pigeon River rafting in Gatlinburg during spring, we recommend you wear layered clothing with synthetics such as fleece or polypropylene. Rip-Roaring Adventures offers a Wetsuit Package or Paddle Jacket rental for an additional fee per person and no fee for children under age 5. For the warm summer months, we advise you to wear something simple like shorts and a shirt or a bathing suit. Regardless of the season, we require the use of secure footwear such as tennis or water shoes, or sandals with a strap around the heels. Absolutely no flip-flops allowed! We also recommend you bring towels, a change of clothes, an extra pair of shoes – getting soaked is unavoidable!
What if I can’t swim?
Do not worry because you are not alone, many rafters cannot swim either. Rip-Roaring Adventures provides and requires all their guests to wear Coast Guard-approved vests.
What if it rains?
All rafting trips go rain or shine – you will get wet regardless, so there is no need to worry!
What are guaranteed days on the Pigeon River?
Guaranteed water release days for Pigeon River rafting, after Memorial Day, are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. As the Big Pigeon River is dam-controlled, guaranteed release days are only available for the months of May, June, July, and August.
What else can I expect from the trip?
There are shower and changing facilities on-site for those going on the rafting trip. A free picnic area and fire pit are also available for those who would rather watch as friends and family go white water rafting and don’t forget to bring your instruments. Musicians and impromptu jam sessions welcome!
