When they start charging a $12 "processing fee" for tickets (each) is when I stop going. Delgrossos doesn't do that. We cancelled our order and went there instead.

This was my first time at Kennywood Park in years. I was back home and took my son and grandson. I was surprised by some of the reviews on here. Anyhow our time there was good. I love how this park has a long history. Not many amusement parks have that. It has a mix of old and new. There were some rides I wished were still there. The log jammer and turnpike. I understand they have to keep up with the times. Overall we had a great time. I got to get my potato patch fries which was always a favorite. They also no longer take cash as a payment. That took me by surprise.

"NEAT HISTORIC coasters, but not lots of family thrills"

We went to Kennywood for my birthday. Overall, we had a good time. Parking and getting into the park were fairly simple and easy. Staff were friendly for the most part. Pricing was average. We spent the entire day there from open to close. Our favorite rides were Exterminator, Jack Rabbit, Racer, Thunderbolt and the Pittsburg Plunge. We felt that the restraints on Phantoms revenge were loose. It was also a very rough ride. That was disappointing. Thunderbolt was a little rough, but a great old wooden coaster with lots of air time. Jack Rabbit and Racer were both fun and not too rough. My teen loved the racing coasters! I thought jack rabbit was the better of the two. It was smooth and I enjoyed the bunny hop hills. Exterminator was an indoor dark spinning coaster, which we BOTH loved. However, the line for this ride was over an hour. Also, it was hot and VERY smelly inside the building that we waited in line for that ride. Other ride lines were minimal. We were able to get on and off most rides pretty quickly, making re-rides a snap. Sky rocket was an OK coaster. I think it is good for big kids. Steel curtain was closed all day when we were there. There were tons of lantern flies all around the entrance for the ride. We wanted to ride the turtle ride that day, but it was also closed. Over by Steel Curtain they had Paddle boats. I thought this would be a good option for my BIG kid that was too big for the kiddie rides, but not brave enough for the BIG coasters. However, we were disappointed to discover that they had an added cost. They were NOT included in park admission. Ghostwood Manor haunted attraction had a long line and was not really worth it. It had laser guns that were supposed to be interactive, but not all worked properly. Raging rapids was VERY smelly. The water smelled disgusting and looked dirty/green. It was a fun ride, but gross. The Pittsburg Plunge on the other hand seemed pretty clean and got us soaked! Lines for it were minimal most of the day. The Old Mill is an old boat ride that goes through a building. It was pretty bad. I think the inside theme needs to be redone. Not worth the time spent in line for that one. We rode the music express. It was OK. I wish they had more carnival type rides to mix up the day. They did have an old Kangaroo ride that we tried. We were not impressed. We walked through the Noah's Ark since it was one of the unique attractions and historic. It was interesting, but some could find it boring. Also, you must be able to balance and walk to go through. People in front of us were not able to do so and caused a traffic jam. Plus once you started going through, you basically have to finish the attraction. I did not see any early exits for those who had difficulty. Note: There was a kiddie section for little kids, but we did not really do much there other than walk through it. It was mostly for toddlers. It did not really have any BIG kid or family rides there. They did NOT have anything like a tilt-a-whirl, sizzler, scrambler, graviton, flume ride etc. Food in the park was decent. We had the chicken tenders and fries over by the plunge. We also got a donut and a funnel cake for dessert later on. All food was good. Pricing was average, kind of what you expect at amusement parks. Restrooms were clean. We did not see any shows/performances, characters, or anything like that. It was basically food and rides. Overall, I think Kennywood was OK. We enjoyed most of the coasters. Best part here was that most of the lines were short or moved quickly. Worst part was that we encountered many areas that were SMELLY and the Raging Rapids was gross. Also, not enough middle thrill rides for BIG kids/family rides. It seemed that they were either kiddie rides or coasters for adult/teen. We liked that MANY of the coasters and rides/attractions were HISTORIC. That was pretty neat! Bottom Line: I would recommend if you a traveling with teens or adults that like coasters. I would recommend if it is within a few hours drive. I would not travel LONG distances or recommend if you have a family with lots of middle schoolers.

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. This is a great old fashioned park with several historic rides that you won’t get anywhere else. Park was clean and most employees were friendly. Seemed like a family friendly park. Park is only 80 acres, so it is easy to get around and much appreciated on a hot Friday in July. All rides were operating including the Steel Curtain, which does have operational issues. The wooden rollercoasters are all incredible. Do not miss the over 100 year old Jackrabbit but the Racer and Thunderbolt are very good too. All had short waits. Other unique and historic rides include The Whip, Kangaroo, and the Turtle. No need to get fast pass at least on this weekday. Lines were almost non existent on most rides or less than 30 minutes on the top rides. The park is so small that even if lines are long, you will have time to ride everything. Also, no need to pay for VIP parking. There is free parking and you maybe have to walk an extra two minutes to the gates. If visiting on a hot day, recommend using the carousel restaurant as a base to relax in the A/C as it is convenient to most rides. Recommendations would be to add shade for more of the ride lines and to add more boats for the rafting ride. This was the only ride that took forever to get on while we were there. Park is not in Pittsburgh and is about a 20-25 minute ride from downtown.
