Description

Experience Nutridge Luau offers an authentic Hawaiian cultural journey set against breathtaking panoramic views at the historic Nutridge Estate, located within Pu?u Ualaka?a State Park. Perched along a lush rainforest ridge known in Hawaiian as “rolling sweet potato hill,” the venue overlooks downtown Honolulu and the Waianae mountain range, creating one of the island’s most unforgettable sunset backdrops.

Guests are welcomed with a warm greeting and a painted kukui nut lei before enjoying a stunning sunset over Honolulu. The evening features immersive cultural experiences, including ti leaf weaving, Hawaiian spear throwing, traditional protocol learning, interactive workshops, cultural games, and an imu ceremony.

After the cultural activities, guests are invited to enjoy a farm-to-table dinner that highlights both Hawaiian and local food traditions. Hawaiian cuisine reflects the ingredients and techniques of early Polynesian settlers, while “local food” evolved between 1850 and 1930 through the influence of immigrant communities from Asia, Polynesia, Europe, and America. The menu includes Nalo greens with liliko‘i dressing, steamed white rice, kalua pua‘a (shredded pork), pulehu chicken, lau lau, sweet bread, tropical pineapple, lilikoi bars, haupia (coconut dessert), u‘ala (purple sweet potato), and baked fish in garlic-butter sauce.

As the evening continues, guests are entertained with traditional Hawaiian music, storytelling, hula performances, and a thrilling fire knife dance under the stars. Once the site of Hawaii’s first macadamia nut plantation, the Nutridge Estate has hosted iconic figures such as Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley during the filming of Blue Hawaii.

Today, Experience Nutridge Luau is recognized as one of Oahu’s most intimate and culturally enriching luau experiences, offering close-up interactions, heartfelt hospitality, and a true spirit of aloha. Book your tickets to create unforgettable memories beneath the Hawaiian night sky, where tradition, cuisine, and entertainment come together in a truly magical experience.

"Intimate luau experience"

We don't love touristy activities. We saw luau's from the beach and in the International Market, and were sure we did not want to pay the price to attend one of those. We saw that Nutridge was on a mountain, with views over the city and the ocean, in a beautiful park, in a lovely estate that hosted about 50 people at a time, and that during the 4 hours we were there, we would experience Hawaiian culture and activities. We had the experience we hoped for. The small staff was so friendly. The MC was a lot of fun and kept the evening moving. The dancers were lovely and were part of the activities as well. Every part of the entertainment was interactive and inclusive of the guests. It was not a sit-and-watch evening! The buffet dinner was delicious and plentiful, offering several traditional dishes, all of which we were encouraged to try. There were so many fun things going on, you had to be there. The evening ended with a dance party! We brought jackets and bug spray, just in case, but didn't need them. Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes for the short walks through the beautiful grounds as you move between activities. This was one of the highlights of our holiday and was worth every penny. Thank you for a great experience, Nutridge Luau folks!

"An evening luau at Nutridge"

Having attended several commercial hotel luaus over the years, Nutridge is drastically different. Set on a private estate in a tropical forest. Guests have exquisite views of rolling lawns, fruit orchards, the blue Pacific, and the magnificent Honolulu skyline at sunset. Simply stated, it is magical. Yet, most importantly, is the spirit of aloha that envelopes guests from the moment entering Nutridge. Hawaiian culture abounds with chants, music, and dancing presented by the Nutridge crew/family, who treat their guests like their own ohana. Lastly, a luau wouldn’t be complete without the mentioning the food that at Nutridge is authentic Hawaiian, delicious, and served with aloha.

It was great! We learned a lot about the hawaiian colture, food and history. It was very intimate and close. The dances were beautiful. Everything was so authentic, i actually had goosebumps when cousin Reno was talking about the hawaiian way of life and sang. Thank you all, Ohana!
