Description

Discover the exciting diversity of Chicago’s architecture on this wide-ranging odyssey, which traces the city’s development from its founding to the present day. This is the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s most comprehensive tour, covering more than 30 miles of Chicago architecture and design in less than four hours!

On this journey, you’ll see world-renowned historic landmarks and buildings in a variety of neighborhoods, including the Loop, Hyde Park, the Gold Coast and more. Along the way, your knowledgeable local tour guide will provide insight into Chicago’s rich architectural history. This tour passes through parks, residential streets, two university campuses and areas along the lakefront. Among the stops is an interior tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, led by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust.

Please be advised that the Robie House will be undergoing restoration work in 2018.

My husband and I toured the Fine Arts Building and the experience was fantastic! Our docent was very knowledgeable and we were thrilled not only to learn the history of the building but visit some of the current incredibly talented artists and tenants. Highly recommend this tour.

  • The Millennium Park garage—enter on Wacker Dr.
  • Grant Park North garage—enter on Michigan Ave.

What happens if it rains?
Tours are not refunded due to weather. Chicago Architecture Foundation walking tours depart rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

Are pets allowed on the tours?
Only service animals are welcome on tours.

What should I wear?
Dress for the weather forecast and wear comfortable attire.

Where do I meet for the tour?
Tours meet and begin at CAF Shop and Tour Center at 224 S. Michigan Ave.  Your ticket will indicate the departure location and time.
