"Resort A +, Time Share Tour F-"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

The resort itself is great! Do NOT do the time share tour!!! My family is the time share owner at Westgate. They reserved a 2 unit building which was enough room for 5 people for me to enjoy. Each unit had a kitchen, living room, balcony, 1 had a King bed, 2nd unit had 2 queen beds. Each had its own shower, jacuzzi tub, and 2 toilets. Upon checking in, they sent me to the concierge/discount ticket desk. Had great interaction with Scott. He was very pleasant. Offered a timeshare tour. At first, I said no, I was not interested in owning. Then a lady stepped in and kept offering things to my family who is the time share owner and then I was offered a discount to Anakeesta and Astralumina (the nighttime show at Anakeesta.) This was not originally in our plans to do, but for 5 people it was $80. I paid a $40 deposit and to try and help my family out as a time share owner out, I reluctantly scheduled a tour. I even told the team that I would not be buying anything, and I did not like to get discounts on something I know I was not going to partake in. They said do not worry about it, take the tickets at the discounted price. During the first 4 days my Concierge checked on us to make sure everything was fine. The day of the tour the employee came and picked us up. We were tied up for a little over 2 hours! Longer than the 1 1/2 hours. Completely ruined the day. We had a small breakfast-which was very good. The tour employee was very nice throughout the presentation and overall sounded like a great opportunity. He took us around the property, showed us upcoming buildings and activities that were to be added. Then the dreaded "talk" They immediately brought us an "offer" and asked us to decline it. The way I understood it, they would lose money. At this point, we told my tour/concierge employee we are not interested in this. We were curious on how the time share worked for possibly in the future and it helped out family. we declined the offer and thought all was done. They came back at least 3 more times with "offers" which was absolutely ridiculous when someone says no. The manager-who I would never talk to a potential client like he did-said we did not make sense and made us out to feel stupid. Eventually, my husband laughed as they brought out the last "offer" and told them we were done. They just looked at us like we were stupid. I thanked the tour employee, who mind you was my concierge person, for his time and told him we appreciated everything he has done, but we were done. He immediately got mad, told us that he is a straight shooter, lol, and was very rude. My concierge person never contacted us back after this. This was not even the whole story, just a portion of how rude the manager and concierge person was after we said no. They then sent over another person who then tried to sell us another stay. We told this gentleman we were done; we just want out of here. He understood and was extremely nice. They then ushered us out the back door to the "gift room". Where I paid the additional $40 for my Anakeesta tickets. I have never felt so belittled in my life. No way to treat people! There were ants in both units but being in the woods a few bugs are expected. The resort has great activities, pools, and transportation around it. Beautiful place to stay and we enjoyed it up to the time share tour. Pretty much ruined the rest of our vacation.

"Beautiful Gatlinburg and the Westgate Smokey Mountain Resort and Waterpark"

Had an absolutely fabulous time at the Westgate Smokey Mountain Resort and Waterpark. My husband and I and my daughter, son in law and 10 month old grandson stayed in 2 connecting 1 bedroom units that were such a perfect set up and very accommodating. We were in building 160 and had the most amazing views. One morning we had a visit from a cute bear just below our balcony. What an awesome surprise. Check in was very crowded but moved quickly. I can’t say enough about the staff, they go above and beyond to welcome you and always greet you with a smile. Shuttle service was always available. Never had to wait long at all. We had breakfast twice and dinner once at the Southern Comfort restaurant, food was delicious and servers were very attentive. We never were approached by any timeshare people so that was not an issue. So, a big thank you to all the wonderful staff at Westgate resort for helping us make some of the best memories. I miss you already and can’t wait to come and visit again.

"Great Week Long Stay with Amazing Views!"

I will preface this by saying that my parents are timeshare holders, but through Welk Resorts, not Westgate. They also went through the entire checking process while we weren’t there yet. My mom and I have been nervous about this upcoming stay, due to the reviews about pushy and harassing salespeople. However, we had zero experience with any of this. They asked my parents once if they’d like a tour or discount tickets. The declined and that was it! We were in Building 160, basically at the top of the mountain near the mountain top pool and bar. We had adjoining rooms A&C. The room was huge! It had a great living and dining area with a big kitchen! It had a master bedroom with a whirlpool tub in the room and a big bathroom with rainfall shower head! Also a 1/2 bathroom off the kitchen. The kitchen is not fully stocked. While there are utensils, pots, pans, etc, there are no basic seasonings, so be prepared to buy those if you plan on cooking! All appliances in our room worked great! Also had a washer & dryer! But the best part of the room was the balcony and the view! The view from our room was stunning! Gorgeous Mountain View’s! A bear basically sat next to our porch one day as well!!! Sadly, my klutzy self tripped over my own shoe and broke my foot the second day there, so I didn’t get to use the pools or mini golf!!! My parents loved the karaoke at the pool bar though lol! There is a liquor store right off property when you come in which was super helpful, and they serve coffee in the Marketplace! A Kroger and a Walmart and a Target are all within a 20 minute drive to get supplies and food, which is what we did our first day there. The lobby will accept Amazon packages for you, just in case you break your foot and need a knee scooter to get around! The staff is all so friendly and came when we had any issues or needed towels. We had dinner and breakfast at the main restaurant, Southern Comfort. It’s a very nice place and the food was great! We also ordered pizza twice from their onsite Mountain Pizza, which was great too! We didn’t use the shuttles or trolleys as we had our own car. Just be careful if you’re high up! Those roads are steep and a bit scary, especially at night! Overall we had an amazing week there! Broken foot be darned! Just decline free tickets and sales pitches and enjoy your time there! We would come again in a heartbeat!

"Helpful staff but Below average accommodations. Not an equal exchange but"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

This was our third stay at Westgate, but the most disappointing. We had exchanged for a one bedroom with a full kitchen. I had requested no stairs and a walk in shower, but expected a full kitchen at least. Our unit was no better than what we might have gotten at a Home 2 hotel. The bedroom was difficult to maneuver as it only had one night stand, the washer/dryer would not dry our clothes, and there were not enough plug ins by the bed. The only reason I gave it more than one star is because the staff was friendly and if we needed something for the room were quick to get it for us. However if this unit (41E was the best they could give us, I’m not sure we will ever come back to this resort again.

"Worst anniversary ever!!! Buyer beware!!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

The westgate resort in Gatlinburg let our room flood, didn't help us, asked them to cancel our spa appointment due to hours of cleaning up by ourselves after midnight with no assistance and then had the audacity to charge us over 200 dollar for missing our spa appointment after we canceled it hours before the cancelation policy. I have never been so dissappointed with management, being a prior customer service manager myself. I have never felt so belittled as a veteran or service member or even a tenant at a resort. The staff completely got away with not doing their job and makimg notations in the computer after showing them my call logs and them having recorded conversations on the room phone and no reprimand and we had to pay hundreds and lose hours of our vacation. Not to mention it ruined our 8 year anniversary. Future owners beware!!! Not worth it. They don't care.
