"DIrty, Dated and Tired"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5

This hotel is dirty, dated and tired. It is in need of a major renovation and facelift. The room has dingy, worn furniture, cobwebs and dust , and the TV did not work. The bed sagged. Highly disappointing stay and will not recommend. There is a $60 perking fee and $60 daily resort fee. This is problematic as this property is below standard and not resort worthy. Take your money elsewhere is you have basic hotel cleanliness standards.

"Amazing first time experience at The Westin Gaslamp"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed March 28, 2025 NEW
This was the first time I stayed at The Westin Gaslamp last weekend in the evening and just by the outside it's such a beautiful hotel. I was greeted by Marjorie who showed me the best front desk agent skills I've seen for awhile. Not only did she quickly got me set up on checking me in for the evening; but she upgraded my room and showed hospitality by giving me additional drink tickets for my stay. As a fellow Marriott employee she made me feel so right at home for my stay and im so greatful to be serviced by her and hope 2 have the same honor when I go back to San Diego. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable and I was so happy with the views from my room. Thank you I can't wait to stay there again.😊

"Bronze Bird for the lunch win."
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 16, 2025
This review is entirely for the praise of the Bronze Bird restaurant. It is hands down my favorite downtown hotel to dine-in. Superior to the Westgate and US Grant, easily. The staff is most notably the reason I come at minimum once a week. I hope management knows just how truly hard everyone here works. I see and appreciate the hustle each and every visit. Most outstandingly so, Ricardo and Ruben. They are both so very attentive. Never once have they left me feel unseen or like a nuisance. I feel genuinely cared for as a hungry patron here. The week day lunch specials are all so yummy and a great deal, so great, that the burger is twice a week now. I personally have taken a liking to the chicken verde and steak frites when my appetite is extra big, but if you’re more of a dainty eater, I’d recommend the citrus arugula salad or the short rib queso tacos. Also- for a shareable appetizer, the fried Brussels sprouts are to die for. I hope you give this place a try, and also hope you’re blessed with Ricardo or Ruben as your waiter. PS, I hope management will consider bringing back the carne asada dip.

"Perfect basecamp hotel for family!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 16, 2025
My family of 3 travelled to San Diego in Jan 2025 and we loved our extended weekend at The Westin SD Gaslamp! It was such a convenient property for walking to and from dining/attractions as well as conveniently located near bus stops. Travelling with a 2 year old, we felt safe exploring the area around the hotel. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We needed to add an extra night stay, no problem. We needed some recommendations from concierge, a delight. They even had a little radio flyer wagon with trinkets and fidget items for our kiddo to choose from (so thoughtful!). The room was beautiful- a stunning view towards Balboa Theatre and the Laguna (?) Mtn Range. It was quiet, clean and generously spacious for a fam of 3. We also loved the dining options on property. The restaurant had a delicious breakfast buffet & menu options and was a great choice for dinner as well. The wood fired pizza was yum! We look forward to future stays at The Westin Gaslamp!
