Pedaling along the historic tracks, bathed in dappled sunlight and a light breeze, you’ll experience new freedom on the rails, unlike anything else. Without the need to steer, you’re unbound, able to look around at the wonder of this untouched stretch of the natural world, spotting blue herons, osprey, an occasional lounging turtle, perhaps a playful river otter, a deer munching on the foliage, and during peak berry season maybe even a bear.

Enjoy magnificent views along these historic tracks and then disembark for a 50-minute layover at Glen Blair Junction to enjoy a picnic or to journey deeper into the redwoods to walk amongst some giants on the loop trail, past blossoming wild iris and trillium, and over the iconic arched stone bridge. Single riders must be at least 18 years of age. Each railbikes can accommodate only a limit of 600lbs combined weight per bike. The maximum weight per rider is 250lbs. Tickets are per bike for two riders. Riders should be capable of bicycling recumbently for 30 minutes at low exertion. The rail bikes include an optional motorized assist to help anyone on any grade or to allow you to take a short breather during the ride. All passengers must fill out a rail bike participant release of liability and assumption of risk agreement before receiving their boarding passes.

What should I bring?

Bring insect repellent, water, sunscreen, and a hat to avoid sunburn during the ride. Helmets are provided. However, you may bring your own helmet if you wish.

What should I wear?

Closed-toed shoes are required. Dress in casual sports attire and for the weather - including rain gear. Rides are rain or shine.

Is the activity appropriate for children?

Infants 2 years old and below are prohibited from riding on rail bikes. This Skunk Train Fort Bragg activity tour is not suitable for infants. Children ages 3-5 must use provided harness or their own car seat.

Animals are allowed if they fit, and dog trailers and crates are available. Dog trailers and crates are now available for your dogs (total weight) up to 150 pounds. $30 per trailer includes a complimentary dog bandana and treat. Subject to availability. Dimensions are 42” x 28 ¼” x 29 ½”.
