A seasonal outdoor pool is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. River Place Inn offers a complimentary "Grab & Go" breakfast including all prepackaged items such as muffins, cereals, yogurt, granola bars, juices, milk, coffee, and tea.

This Smoky Mountains area hotel is located on River Road, less than half a mile to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cade's Cove is approximately two miles away and Ober Gatlinburg is within walking distance (0.1 mile). With a convenient location, the hotel is within easy walking distance to Gatlinburg Convention Center, Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway, fabulous restaurants, Sky Lift Park and Ripley's Aquarium.

First impressions of this entire hotel is in a state of disrepair and overall sad and dirty. I was willing to overlook that as sometimes the rooms have been remodeled and it’s a work in progress. It appeared that some repairs were completed in the room, but it was done sloppy and clearly. The wooden style floors showed dust and dirt, the night stand had a layer of dust that I could run my finger through, there were “decorative” pillows on the bed that likely could have never been cleaned. The pillows appeared balled up like someone recently slept on them, there was bugs crawling on the ceiling and the worst of all the large soaking tub had standing water in it. I immediately felt disgusted when we entered the room as it had that smell of cleaning products trying to cover stink and filth. My husband went to the front desk and they reported they were aware of the tub leaking and did not have another honeymoon suite to swap us into. My husband let them know we wanted to cancel our reservation and it was reported that we would pay for that night but get back to us about an amount to be reimbursed and that was 4 days ago now. There has been no communication from the hotel. There are very nice hotels near by that are cheaper in cost. This place is awful.

the best thing about this lil motel is location, very convenient to most everything downtown and the gatlinburg hike trail. the hotel staff were very helpful. i wasn’t sure if i liked the online check in process. the king deluxe was large but the furniture felt mis placed. the room was clean and the bed was comfy and fresh. not sure about the bed frame. rooms need some TLC -like the bathroom door was hard to open and water stains on trim but i know they are working on them.

My husband and I stayed for our anniversary. Carolyn was an exceptional host. Everyone is kind and greets with a smile. Rooms were clean, the deluxe room with fire place was great! Definitely recommend those rooms if you can get one. We will be staying here again.
