"Disappointing Stay – This Hotel Has Seen Better Days"

We stayed at La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Secaucus Meadowlands from October 13th to 18th, 2025, and unfortunately, our experience was far from what you’d expect for a hotel charging over €100 per night. The entire property is run-down and clearly hasn’t seen any proper maintenance in a long time. From stained carpets throughout the hallways to visible mold on the bathroom ceiling, it’s clear the hotel is in serious need of renovation. Let’s talk about the breakfast – absolutely terrible. Every single day, the exact same limited selection: dry bread, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, cornflakes, and cake. That’s it. No fresh fruit, no variety, and to top it off, everything is served on paper plates with plastic cutlery, making the experience feel even cheaper. The pool area looked so unclean and uninviting, we didn’t even consider taking a dip. One of the most frustrating parts of our stay was the key cards. They almost never worked. We had to go down to reception every day to have them reactivated, only to return to the room and be stuck outside again. It’s likely not the cards themselves but the door readers that are malfunctioning. Sometimes, it took 50+ swipes before the door would finally open. We were told a technician would come by, but that promise was never fulfilled – just an excuse to send us on our way. The elevator situation wasn’t much better – one of the elevators was out of service for half our stay, leading to long waits, especially during peak times. Our bathroom had several issues: aside from the mold, it took 10+ minutes before hot water came through the shower, and the toilet eventually stopped flushing. I had to manually open the tank and tap the float myself to get it working again. On a more positive note, the beds were okay, and the location is decent. There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel that takes you directly to Times Square, which was convenient. Still, these few positives are nowhere near enough to justify the price or excuse the condition of the hotel. It’s honestly a disgrace under the Wyndham brand. For the money we paid, this was a complete disappointment. Would not recommend.

It’s a place to stay that’ll save you some money. It’s decent with friendly staff but tired-looking and needs a scrub up in places too. It’s not that far from the Meadowlands and other shops and only a bus ride away from Manhattan. Not a great place to stay at, but not terrible either, and it will probably save you money compared to other hotels in New York.
