Holiday Inn Express Williamsburg Busch Gardens Area in Williamsburg, VA

Overall, this hotel was nice. I think 3.5 stars is probably what it deserves. The location is excellent if you are going to Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg. It is about as equidistant as you can be (around 15 minutes from Jamestown and Yorktown and 10 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg). It's also very close to Busch Gardens if you are going there. It is set in a quiet office park. There is not an indoor pool. In March, the outdoor pool was closed. There is only 1 elevator but it was very quick. The room was nice and updated. The bed was very comfortable. The sink/vanity is right inside the door, not in the bathroom itself. This was okay but would have been better if the counter was larger. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The biggest downside of the bathroom/sink was the lack of adequate hanging. The single towel bar was not really wide enough for 2 towels and there was no place to hang the hand towel at the sink. Also, we had a room with 2 queens and originally had 3 sets of towels. Upon cleaning we were only given 2 replacements. The 2 biggest issues with our stay were the refrigerator and the free breakfast. We brought deli meat, drinks and fruit and vegetables to pack a lunch each day. Although the refrigerator was on the highest setting, the interior was not cold or even cool. The very back of the interior was cool but that was it. I reported this issue to the front desk and was given the option to change rooms but the refrigerator in the second room was the same. The front desk clerk said they were old. I wound up having to fill bags with ice to cool the refrigerator each day and night. This worked but was a lot of effort that shouldn't have been required. On the plus side, we were close to the ice machine (at the very end of the hallway) and the ice machine never ran out of ice. The breakfast was also disappointing and not up to typical Holiday Inn Express standards. There were 2 alternating meals: 1) turkey sausage patties, powdered eggs, sausage gravy & biscuits and 2) pork sausage links, powdered eggs and potatoes. The turkey sausage was way overcooked all 3 days it was served and was very dry. They eggs were bad all days. The pork sausage and potatoes were decent. The cinnamon rolls were okay but were much smaller than typical. Also, there was no milk 1 day. Definitely a disappointment.

Great customer service with D'I-shawn C and his co worker. Clean rooms and workout facilities. The rooms stayed at a great temp, and the breakfast was phenomenal. This trip was during a snow storm, and the staff worked hard;cleaning roads, serving guests, and making this snow day an overall great experience.

We arrived at the hotel and the staff was wonderful. Dy Shawn on overnight shift was remarkable and exemplary and truly made my visit to this site a pleasure. Not only did he go out of his way to ensure our comfort from a long flight in but has a magnetic personality to match his enjoyment of customer service. Thank you to the Front Desk staff and especially to you Dy Shawn. We will be here again.

Our hotel stay was true relaxing. The room was clean, spacious, and cozy. The staff was wonderful and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. If I had to come back to Virginia again this would be the hotel that I would stay at. And it's only 15 minutes away from Busch Gardens meeting.

Excellent place to stay for not a lot of money. Pristine rooms offering daily housekeeping! We were more than comfortable and enjoyed the free breakfast. Great staff on site. Free parking. Quiet, comfortable rooms with all the amenities.
