This is probably the worse looking Holiday Inn Express we have ever stayed in. The curtains in our room have holes in them. There are large black marks on one wall. The room was clean. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very pleasant but when you have duck tape holding up part of the elevator interior you wonder.

Pros: Close to the River St. District (directly across Bay St. through Emmett Park) . Hop-On tour stop directly beside the hotel by Trinity Church. Public Self Parking deck right beside hotel. Property has pricey valet parking which we had to use the first two nights because the deck was full on a busy weekend, but the last two nights we self parked next door and it was very convenient and less expensive. Nice rooftop pool deck -- we didn't swim but enjoyed the view of the river. Room was basic but completely adequate, clean and plenty of convenient charging ports for devices. Satisfied. Our room was also quiet even though it was near all the downtown action. Concierge available in the lobby, which is nice. Cons: Breakfast area was always packed and the automated coffee stations (only two machines) created such a bottleneck that they annoyed everyone in the dining room. The coffee quality was better than typical, but the wait was far too long and there was no mechanism to top off a cup. The choice was to either get a new full cup or nothing. I'm sure it saves labor cost for the hotel but was insufficient for the numbers it was servicing. Breakfast food was typical for this hotel brand. We added one additional night and stopped at the front desk to request that they notify housekeeping to refresh the room, empty trash and check the coffee service in the room, but it was not handled.

The hotel is clean and adequate and in an excellent location. The people that worked there were pleasant and helpful, especially the breakfast lady and the concierge. On our last day they did run out of several breakfast items which was disappointing. We did have issues with the a/c several times which is a problem for me since it’s so humid there. They sent someone up to our room to fix the problem and it would work and then shut off again. One good thing is they have maintenance on call 24/7. The problem couldn’t be fixed because it was 11pm and would take hours and I asked for another room but they said they were booked and provided a big fan. Why am I spending $250+ on Sat night and having a noisy fan instead of a/c? The next day it was fixed and working and the same thing happened. I again called for maint. who came promptly and was told it was a big job and couldn’t be done until morning. I again asked for a room change and a better room and they gave me one (why did I have to ask). During the night that a/c shut off but I called maint. & they quickly took care of it. One other thing, one of the elevator button panels was barely working and held on with tape!

Our stay was excellent. The entire staff is so accommodating. From the valets who not only parked our car but they helped us get our luggage cart upstairs! The front desk staff was so friendly and were kind enough to provide bottled water upon request ( it doesn't sound like much but Hampton Inn will charge you for it). The breakfast was delicious and their coffee maker grinds the beans each time ( can you say fresh and delicious). The concierge was helpful in providing recommendations for activities when the weather turned wet. From top to bottom this Holiday Inn Express is a great value right in the middle of downtown Savannah
