"Very disappointed"

I have stayed in several Holiday Inn Express hotels in the past with no issues. This hotel should not even be associated with the HIE brand, in my opinion. The entire hotel is in need of a major cleaning. The lobby furniture was stained and dingy. Hallways and elevators dirty. Our room, 155, was disgusting. There were stains on the curtains, the walls were filthy and bathroom door was rotting. The shower only had a cloth curtain which resulted in the entire bathroom being covered in water after use. Walls, floor, toilet, door, everything. Also, the pool was closed for maintenance all weekend which was a disappoinment. I understand this is not a luxury hotel but paying $400 for a weekend here was a total ripoff.

"Serious Maintenance Issues and Apparent Black Mold – No Resolution from Management"

I stayed at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Richmond North Ashland while traveling for the Jefferson Cup, and the condition of the room raised serious concerns. The room showed multiple signs of deferred maintenance and moisture damage. The bathroom door frame was visibly rotting and splitting, and there was black mold-like growth and residue around the bathroom threshold. Trim and wall panels were separating from the wall, and there were long cracks along the wall beneath the window. Behind the desk there was also an unsecured coax cable plate that had come loose, leaving an open hole in the wall next to the electrical outlet. Overall the room appeared poorly maintained and not consistent with the standards normally expected from a Holiday Inn Express property. What made the situation worse was management’s response. After bringing these issues to their attention and documenting the condition of the room, management refused to offer an alternative room and did not offer any remedy or refund. This property is owned and operated by Shamin Hotels, and I hope ownership and the IHG Hotels & Resorts brand review the condition of guest rooms and how guest concerns are handled at this location. Families traveling for major youth tournaments expect safe and properly maintained accommodations, and unfortunately that was not our experience here.

"In need of updating"

I am hesitant to write poor review, but I feel that this property is sorely in need of an overall update and the management needs to address this. HIE is our favorite option for a night on the road when making a long trip. The location just off I-95 was super convenient with easy places to eat and gas up steps away. However, the hotel itself was dingy, our room was dusty, the wallpaper was peeling, tiles cracked, furniture and walls scuffed, tub faucet coming out of the wall, and tub not draining properly. The staff we encountered were hard working and friendly. They deserve better as do loyal HIE customers. Management needs to address updating this property and it will once again be a great overnight on the road.

"Worst hotel in IHG we ever used - avoid"

I honestly do not understand the 4 stars average here. This hotel was smelly in the hallways, old and dirty rooms, even the lamps in the room were rusty! The girl behind the counter could not explain to me why I was charged $29 although I booked with points. Something with tax probably she said. So I asked her to print off an invoice so we could see what the system was doing, but she couldn't or din't know how to. She told me should go to my account and check myself. This is not professional at all. She also worked there when we checked in around 10pm and was still there when we left at 10am. So I am wondering about their HR policies and compliance.

"Fruit flies, mold and rude staff"

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The manager with "FREAK" tattooed on her chest was extremely rude. The kitchen amd lobby was infested with fruit flies. There was mold and missing tiles in our bathroom. We never had our towels replaced during our 4 day stay. We had to go to Walmart to buy towels to use. 0 out of 5 stars! Don't waste your time.
