Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump in Richmond, VA

We recently had a 3 night stay at the Hilton Short Pump, our first visit there. The hotel has a modern decor, and although The Jefferson is my preferred hotel decor, the Hilton was better located for this visit and nicely decorated. An expansive lobby greeted us. Check in was easy and the front desk staff was exceptionally polite and accommodating. A ++ to Crystal and the others to allowed a slightly early check in and were quite helpful. A nice bar adjoined the lobby and we had drinks there on a couple of occasions. We did not eat at the restaurant, although there were some nice looking selections offered on the menu. We looked into the dining space and it appeared a bit lunch cafe' like for our taste. Some table linens would have elevated that space a bit, or some colorful artwork, but lacking those, we chose to eat elsewhere. There are many restaurants nearby. Our room had a sofa and this was a nice seating addition. There was an excellent assortment of lighting options (Thank you!), a large window with a very nice view, and black out curtains with no gaps! There were a few things I really liked about the room, and these will lead me to being a repeat guest. It was very quiet - no other guest noise, no hall noise, no adjoining room TV noise, and best of all, no heat or A/C noise. The bed was very comfortable and bed linens were soft. I really liked that the bedding was not too hot (as is typical of most hotels where there is a heavy comforter between sheets). Bed linens were another A+. The thermostat was easy to adjust. There was some room for improvement in the bathroom, but overall that was also a nice space. Large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion were provided. A lighted, adjustable makeup mirror was wall-mounted and the large vanity mirror was lighted. The bathroom was well ventilated and did not fog. On the downside, the bathroom was small and there was not a great deal of extra space between the glass shower door and toilet. I also wished the towels had been softer. However, these were my only "complaints" about our otherwise very nice stay. The Hilton is not a luxury experience, but it is well above average at a reasonable cost.

We called Hilton to reserve a block of rooms for my mother's funeral. We needed 8 rooms on Sat. and Sun. Over the phone we were quoted a block room rate of $140.00 per night. Upon arrival we were told that there was no room block on their records. The front desk admitted they had a record of a conversation requesting a block of rooms but denied that anyone confirmed that request. When we spoke to each family that booked with Hilton they were told that when they asked for the blocked room rate they were told they had no record of it. Every guest received a different quote for their rooms and paid more than the quoted $140.00 They booked anyway because it was important for us to be together as we gathered to mourn our loss. The front desk staff were all singularly unhelpful and denied the ability to do anything about lowering the rate. We spoke to a supervisor who also said there was nothing they could do about it. One front desk person gave us directions to the Hampton Inn. .I can't help but wonder what corporate would think about the front desk being willing to turn down $1,120 for the 8 rooms at $140.00 (plus the money we spent in the restaurant, the cafe and the bar) just because they wouldn't make a decision to honor the rate we were quoted. They stated it was an "off season" time of year and that there were plenty of empty rooms.

Stayed at hotel for a business trip. Upon check in, staff were warm and friendly. Interior is well kept and clean. Room was spacious, clean and smelled amazing. It was quiet and the bed was soft and plush. Conveniently located close to shopping, dining and gas stations. Has an indoor pool and hot tub, which I didn’t use but could see from the well equipped gym. Utilized the gym while I was there and equipment is in excellent condition. Has an on-sight restaurant, bar and coffee bar with snack shop. Check and check out was a breeze and staff again was welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Visited the weekend after Thanksgiving. The good: Mobile key was great, making check in/out easy. Staff were friendly, hotel generally clean and nice as expected for a Hilton. Room generally clean and beds comfortable, room service pretty quick. My wife enjoyed the scalding hot water in the shower-me and my kids did not. We did not use the pool, but nobody was in it and it looked clean. I really liked that there's underground parking. The location is great as well, just off the main road with quick access to anything you need but still quiet. The bad: understand that hotels in general use cheap sheets, but the sheets here are sandpaper loud. You can't move without everyone in the room hearing. Much like other hotels-the lack of ventilation in the bathroom is wreaking havoc on the ceiling and walls. It's not 'gross' yet, but it won't be too long for room 304. I was surprised to find the TVs are limited to DirectTv, with no access to apps like Netflix or Prime Video, etc. Not a big deal, but would have been better for the kids.

I was there with a large conference. Friday at noon I asked the desk if there was any chance of an early check in but I understand check in is not till 3. Agent just smirked and said check in is at 3 and never looked. No free lobby coffee had to either pay $20 for the breakfast buffet or $10 for the in-house coffee shop. I just wanted drip black coffee. Room was okay could have been cleaner. Bathroom was nice and clean. However when I went to shower the water was lukewarm at best. Tried again later and had the same experience. Add on $10 for parking on top of a $300+ single night stay. Would not stay again.
