Just returned from an incredible stay at Hilton Universal Hollywood. The hotel and rooms were clean and the staff very pleasant. We had a great view of the park and area from our room. Short walk to park and also a great shuttle service was available. We were allowed to check in early for a small fee which really helped our short trip. All in all a great experience.

"Decent Stay, although with minor tweaks/attention, could be better!"

We recently stayed at the Hilton Universal City as part of our two week Christmas holiday to California. We chose it owing to its location close to Universal Studios, and that we're Hilton Honors Diamond. Check in wasn't entirely straightforward, and despite only a handful of guests checking in, it was a protracted affair. One critical thing not mentioned at check in was the parking situation, other to say that the cost would be added to our stay. Parking is very expensive, but I get it, you're right at the gates of Universal, and it's not much more costly, give or take, than general parking there. That said, the room we had was pleasant, and clean. There was a standard two cup coffee bag style coffee maker, and sufficient towels, and toiletries for the whole family. We had a view of the theme park, but we weren't high enough to see it, in its entirety, but it was still nice to see the lights after dark. Unlike British Hiltons, Diamond doesn't get you a sit down breakfast in a restaurant. You simply get a credit of $18 for two adults. That doesn't come anywhere near the cost of a breakfast at the hotel. But you can get a couple of breakfast sandwiches at the coffee place with your credit. You just get a lot less for your money, and Honors membership in the US, which is the way it is really. But at home, and indeed in Europe as a whole, we get breakfast for the whole family at no extra cost, so this is a bit of a downside when visiting the US, when wanting to stay loyal to the Hilton brand. Ultimately though, it made an ideal location for Universal, and it was a quick walk, following the hotels route to the park entrance. My final point is with regards to the parking. We were given no direction at check in, as to how it worked. And maybe we're just naive in these things, but when we came to leave, we entered our, what we thought, was a validated parking ticket, and it requested a given amount to pay. Having already paid as part of our hotel stay, we were stuck, with an ever increasing queue of cars behind us. What we needed was our hotel keycard, which we'd left in the room. This was never explained to us. However, we pushed the call button, and explained our situation, and the barrier was lifted. Although that was more than enough stress to be starting the day, a day on which we were driving to Las Vegas. A few helpful words at check in, would've helped us to avoid the whole situation. Fundamentally the Hilton is a decent enough hotel, with plenty of parking, and an ideal base for visiting Universal, but for us, it wasn't without issues, such as the parking. But if you're wanting somewhere close to the theme park, at a fairly high price point, then you won't go far wrong with the Hilton.

The staff was very helpful and professional. The check-in and check-out was quick and easy. The room was really nice and the temperature was perfect. The lobby and common areas were always kept clean. Uber drivers were quick to arrive after requesting a ride. The food at the hotel was always very good. The only thing I don’t understand is how I lost my gold member status immediately after paying about $4,000 to stay there.
