"First visit to Savannah"

This was mine and my husbands first visit to Savannah. Found the hotel easily and were greeted and checked in quickly upon arrival by friendly staff. Accommodations were very good as was breakfast. We did not use the pool. TV controller did not work but maintenance quickly fixed it. The location was perfect. Within walking distance to Welcome center and trolly access for the Hop on-Hop off trolly. Only complaint about trolly was it only ran till 5 pm so had to drive to River Street for dinner. There was a $35.00 charge to park at the hotel. However when hotel lot got full, you had to park in the Embassy's parking garage which was the hotel behind ours. There was no additional charge as you used your room key to get out. A bit inconvenient but not horrible. Over all I would definitely recommend this Hampton Inn on W Oglethorpe Avenue and hope to return some day.

"Close to town but far from expectations"

We stayed at this Hampton Inn because we wanted to be closer to town The location was ideal as you can walk to most of the attractions. The parking was overpriced as all other hotels in town. The rates in town are generally much higher than along I95, but the service and condition of this hotel doesn’t reflect the exorbitant cost. The lowest rate I have seen for this hotel as a Hilton member is $189 on a Monday night with parking. At this price point, we thought this Hampton would be different from others in Georgia and Florida but it wasn’t. The lobby is grand and certainly different from other Hamptons but that’s where it ends. The carpeted hallways are kept warm and as a result have a general smell that permeates everywhere, including the rooms and “suites”. Very heavy curtains and old HVAC system are in much need of replacement; rooms in need of refreshing. The breakfast wasn’t any better: poor even for Hampton Inn. The coffee was the only thing there that you could have. Lots of cheap breakfast items that seem they came from a vending machine - not many bread options - inedible oatmeal and eggs (the same ones you get at all Hamptons and Homewood Suites). The staff was generally very kind and attentive and they even had a tour guide stationed in the lobby.

This place is a dump. Musty odor. Dated rooms. Old carpet. AC not working. I would suggest staying somewhere else. This does not live up to the Hilton brand. One of the worst Hampton Inns I’ve stayed at. I have been diamond member for 10 years and have come to expect better.
