"Close to Downtown and Nature"

This hotel is a half a mile from downtown and offers a free breakfast. It is also a short drive to several trail heads and nature. There were several bear sightings in the parking lot while we were there. The staff (sorry I didn't get their names) were a big help in suggestions to restaurants and attraction. They also helped us determine which trails to do and made our stay better. our room and the hot tub were great reliefs after the day hiking and visiting the sights.

"Not As Relaxing"

We were not thrilled with the “Queen sized beds” that were very narrow and we kept slipping over the side of the bed. After asking for hypoallergenic pillows we were told they only had feather pillows. My allergies were bad as a result. We were also charged daily for parking - we remembered a time parking at this hotel was free. We will pass next time.

"Do Not Stay Here"

Do Not Stay Here - if you don’t like being woken up at 4:30AM by the sound of a garbage truck picking up the hotels dumpsters. We stayed 4 nights and could not get a restful night’s sleep. The Front Desk said it’s the city of Gatlinburg and there is nothing they can do about the time or noise. I recorded a video from my 5th floor room and played it for the front desk to demonstrate how loud it was. The person shrugged her shoulders and said - nothing she can do.

We are HH members and were recognized as such upon check-in. We arrived at 4pm on a Sunday, yet our room was not ready. We waited in the lobby for 20 minutes. There was only 1 clerk and she was continually checking in guests. She was overworked and obviously they were understaffed. When our room was ready she told us we would be next. She supplied all the necessary information (elevators, breakfast 6am-10am, fire pits & pool locations). We proceeded to our room and happily saw we had been upgraded to a 2 room suite with a balcony! It was very clean (strong smell of Clorox) and all amenities were supplied. At this point we decided we would give a 5 star review! Since breakfast was served until 10am, we did not rush to get downstairs. That was a big mistake! The dining room was nearly full and everyone was standing waiting for food. What we didn’t realize is once they had served their allotment of food for the day nothing else was brought out. #1 NO COFFEE #2 We waited 20 minutes for coffee to be refilled. #3 Cheese omelets, roasted potatoes, and Canadian bacon were available if you arrived early enough. #4 We were there for 45 minutes and NONE of the hot food was replenished except oatmeal. At this point we left the dining room, to obtain our belongings to checkout. The checkout clerk (different than checking clerk) appeared to be angry. The ONLY words spoken were “you want a receipt”. She never asked how our stay was or thanked us for staying or recognized us as HH members. This knocked down our recommendations and overall “score”. I wish we had spent $20 more and stayed at The Embassy Inn behind this Hampton. We know we would have received a substantial breakfast and a 2 room suite. Check there before staying here. We DO NOT RECOMMEND this Hampton and will not stay again.

10/10 would recommend staying here when in Gatlinburg. It is close enough to enjoy a walk down to the main strip. The grounds are beautiful. The outdoor space is quaint with the river running through and the fire tables. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms were spotless - there was no smell and no strong cleaner smells. The beds & pillows were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious. I will definitely be staying here when we stop by Gatlinburg in the future!
