"Hotel - Yes! Valet - Big no"

We stayed at the Fairfield in Chinatown as it is the closest Marriott affiliate location to Capital One Arena. It’s within walking distance, maybe 5 minutes so super convenient. There are tons of restaurants in the area that are walkable. The rooms are average. No complaints. We used valet parking which was expensive but expected for DC. Their was one evening where valet was backed up and they parked our car in the alley next to the hotel… not a problem. We would grab it from there. Well while trying to get into the car, a different employee felt the need to yell at us and tell us we couldn’t park there. We were confused because another valet member put the car there. Again, the other employee yelled at us and told us we needed to move and couldn’t park there and well, that set my boyfriend off. So he started yelling back, the valet employee got out of a customers car to approach my boyfriend and the valet manager had to break it up. 🫠 When leaving out, we had to pull out next to the employee who rolled down the window and let us know he would be there when we got back. 😂 so 100% don’t recommend the valet. And that’s why they’ve gotten 3 stars. Hotel is fine, valet not so much.

"Excellent service, location and breakfast!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5

The service here has been exceptional. We got snowed in during a visit, when I (adult female) brought my teen daughter, her friend and our exchange student to see the city. We had to book an extra night last minute because our train home to Hampton Roads was cancelled. Tracy at the front desk, who was the same one to check us in Friday night, was so helpful and found us a discount to offset this unplanned cost. She and her colleague also found me a AA battery when the one in my work laptop died, what a lifesaver! They were very friendly and understanding. Breakfast was quite good, and the staff kept things refilled and clean. The location is also excellent, and nice decor inside. Highly recommend!

"Mouse in Guest Room Caused Significant Discomfort"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed January 14, 2026 NEW
I stayed at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Washington, DC/Downtown from January 8 to January 10. I was in DC for a work-related meeting, and the hotel stay was arranged by the meeting organizer. On January 9 at approximately 10:30 PM, while staying in Room 404, I saw a mouse running inside the guest room. I immediately contacted the front desk, and my room was changed to Room 911. I was provided with a $25 restaurant voucher at that time. I was also verbally informed at the front desk that reward points would be provided, but as of now, no points have been credited to my account. Although the staff responded promptly, the incident had a serious impact on my stay. After encountering a mouse, I felt extremely uncomfortable and was unable to sleep properly, keeping the lights on throughout the night out of concern that another mouse might appear. I have uploaded a photo showing the air conditioning unit where the mouse ran and hid immediately after being seen in the room. While I do not have a photo of the mouse itself, this illustrates the situation. A pest issue inside a guest room is a significant concern, especially at a Marriott-branded property. While some compensation was offered, it did not fully address the distress and loss of rest caused by this experience. I hope management reviews this incident carefully and takes appropriate steps to ensure better room inspections, pest control, and follow-up for affected guests.
