"Recently renovated gem"

This is my first time staying at a Spark hotel, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s a minimalist hotel that has been renovated with a modern look, which I liked. The room was clean and plenty big for one person - and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was quite friendly. If you’re looking for an elaborate or hot breakfast, this isn’t your place. However, it was perfect for me. If you take the train to Williamsburg, plan to use Uber or Lyft to get around because the hotel is surrounded by four lane roads. Regardless, it’s close to Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary.

If I could rate this hotel a negative-25 I would. The staff and especially the dining room staff were great. This review is on the hotel itself. I love the Hilton embassy suites brand and a Hilton gold member. That means I travel A LOT personal and business. This hotel was used to housed our family reunion ( 15-17 August 2025, room 522) because we couldn’t get the brand new Spark hotel. The Spark wasn’t scheduled to open when the reunion was being plan. The rooms were TERRIBLE. The smell of mold, damp old carpet. One working elevator for over five floors. The rooms were outdated , unclean and furniture beyond repair. The outside was clean but when you went inside to the rooms, you would think you stepped into 1990. Electrical switches not working. I would be embarrassed for the general manager and the Hilton brand to have this hotel listed. I don’t understand why Hilton wouldn’t renovate these first generation Embassy Suites especially if they are in high tourist areas. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to the lowest level of species. I have no problem for Hilton Family especially the GM to contact myself or any member of my family. And yes my family members did complain but did we see a manager, absolutely not. I plan to move this higher because your customers nor your staff needs to deal with the level of misrepresentation. Why should your employees have to endure customer complaints when you clearly can put money into upgrading this hotel. People are willing to pay more for a brand that respects cleanliness

Have stayed multiple times. Staff are great - friendly and helpful! Homemade omelets/eggs are great! Many thanks to Sagan for a quick check in. Location is great. Online photos are deceptive. Hotel is overdue for an update. Furnishings very worn.

"Almost not as bad as you thought it would be"

I thought this place was going to be terrible, and dreaded the kid soccer tournament that brought me here. When I arrived, though, it didn’t seem nearly as bad as I expected. And then the wheels fell off. We booked and were charged for a two-bedroom suite, but when my family of four went to the room we discovered it was a one-BR suite. They don’t have any more rooms, and had let another family upgrade to our room the night before. So the four of us were forced to cram into a tiny suite. Oh, and the room smells like a urinal cake. I had some time to kill, so I hit the gym. I was excited they had a Peloton; many far nicer hotels do not. And it was even in decent shape! But the gym was 73 degrees with the thermostat locked to prevent guests from changing it to an appropriate temperature. And, smooth jazz played from the speakers. Smooth jazz?! There were only two towels in the gym, and I worked up such a sweat in the gym’s stifling heat that I used both. And they were very scratchy and non-absorbent. My wife asked the front desk to make up the couch bed, but her request was ignored. I went down to check on the status and both women behind the desk disclaimed any knowledge of such a request. My wife came down to the front desk and had to set them straight. 15 or so min later we are informed that the housekeeping staff had left for the day (they apparently leave at 3pm, so if you need housekeeping services after that time you’re screwed). One of two elevators was out of service, which led to unbearable waiting, other parents on the team reported. There was coin-operated laundry, which is good for soccer teams playing in nearby tournaments. Although where my wife found coins I haven’t a clue. If you have a choice, don’t stay here. If you don’t, which was our scenario, you’ll survive and be even more grateful to be home at the end of your trip. For context, I typically stay in 5-star hotels when I travel. If 2-3 stars is your jam, this may suit.
