"Unwelcoming front desk staff ruined everything"

I had high hopes for Courtyard Marriott Myrtle Beach Oceanfront after reading the good reviews but regretted the moment I checked in. The front desk staff (Brian) who checked me in did not make me feel welcomed. Instead of greeting me, he started the conversation by saying "driver's license?". He was cold and almost made me feel uncomfortable. He never acknowledged my Marriott Titanium status and was impatient when I asked about the floor of my room. He was either having a bad day or lacks the people skills one needs to stay in the hospitality industry. The hotel also messed up the bill. I reserved my room with the Myrtle beach package which included self-parking; however, I was still charged for parking and had to call/stop by the front desk multiple times to have the charge removed. I was also not impressed with the cleanliness of the room. There were spots on the toilet and I found a paper coffee cup in the minifridge, which I suppose was left by the previous guest staying in my room. To be fair, I must add that the oceanfront king room was spacious and had a good-sized balcony with a nice view of the Atlantic.

The location is fantastic, especially if you have things at the convention center. But what was unexpected was the hospitality. Tracey at the bar at 21 & Ocean made my dinner experience lovely!

Hotel was really nice. Room was clean, spacious and had small fridge & microwave. Best part was balcony overlooking the ocean. On site restaurants were good and had a nice variety of food. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks to Kenyetta who was SUPER helpful at check-in & throughout our stay.

We noticed that the Carolina’s have such friendly people, but I think the friendliest people we encountered work at this hotel. Every single staff member was so nice and helpful. I especially want to thank Dave the bellman, he was so kind. Not just with the luggage, his great personality extended to whenever we were coming and going, always greeting us and making sure we knew where we were going. He gave such a great first impression of the hotel. We also loved Barbara the bartender. She was so friendly and it was so nice listening to her sing while she was working! Staying in this hotel totally made it a vacation to remember.

My trip was awesome! David Love greeted us as we went into the hotel and Will helped pack our cars on the way out. The front desk was a pleasant experience. The bar tenders were great at getting food and drinks out to customers. The food was awesome! The hotel was hosting guests from a gymnastics event and an educators conference. While full of guests, the hotel experience was not compromised. Will definitely stay again!
