"Not a good experience"

The pool was green with brown filth around the edges. The coffee maker in the room was full of disgusting old grounds in the water compartment. At checkin I was told they don’t provide pillows or blankets for the pullout but was given 2 sheets for it. The refrigerator froze all our food on the first night.

The hotel's greatest asset is its location, as it is very conveniently located if you're going to Kings Dominion, The room was a little worn, though otherwise clean and well maintained. One of the two beds in the room was quite soft. The desk chair was pretty worn. An plastic case in the closet looks like it should contain an extra blanket, but was empty. A clever laminated card in the room mentioned the trains that pass the hotel and thus why earplugs were left with it, but there were no earplugs. In the bathroom, there was conditioner, but no shampoo. The shower was nice and hot, and the water pressure was good. Lighting in the hallways could be improved. The most significant reason for my mediocre score was the breakfast. For one, given the hotel's location next to a theme park, breakfast should go until 10 a.m., especially on weekends. It ends at 9:30 a.m., which I can certainly live with, BUT, I arrived at breakfast at 9:25, saw the entrance to the breakfast area with a barrier halfway across it and a "Breakfast Closed" sign. Looking at my phone to confirm it was 9:25, I ignored it and went it. A gentleman a minute later did the exact same thing. Upon entering, I found that both hot items had nothing left. One of the two waffle makers had been apparently cleaned and put out of service for the morning, leaving the other one quite busy, as four of us were lined up for waffles -- a collective 10 minute process. If there was any fresh fruit out, that had been put away. Lots of things were being put away. So much for hospitality.

"Just ok, probably would not stay here again"

This place was ok. The indoor pool was nice, but they had removed the spa and filled it in with concrete. While it is close to Kinds Dominion, within walking distance, there are no pedestrian walkways or cross ways to the park. When we called, the front desk said yes you could walk to KD and that their were pedestrian routes however there are none, not even sidewalks and the road crossing is a major 6 lane road with turning lanes making it very unsafe to walk with a family. Very few eating options nearby and no pharmacies open in the evening for about 15 miles. Highly suggest if you are going to stay here for KD, that you park at the park and not attempt to walk. The hotel was not fancy. It was clean but not polished. It served our purposes for an over night sleeping facility near KD but we would probably not stay in this hotel again as other hotels in the area provide shuttles to the park. For what we got and what we paid, we really felt like it was not a great value. Breakfast was blah: scrambled eggs, boiled sausage links, cereal, yogurt, bread, and some fruit with an attendant talking very loudly about how its good to tip her. Really nothing to write home about...

I really enjoyed my stay.Yhe rooms were nice and clean..The bed were really comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was actually very satisfying..My kids enjoyed the indoor pool too, I will definitely stay again

I want to start off by saying that the lady who ran the breakfast bar was absolutely amazing—she was by far the best part of our stay. Always cheerful and welcoming, she truly made our mornings better. Now, on to the not-so-great parts of our experience. Apparently, this hotel isn't very familiar with handling school groups: Room Reservations: Each of our rooms was booked separately, which made the check-in and check-out process incredibly frustrating and time-consuming. Room Placement: Our 10 rooms were scattered all over the hotel across three different floors, making supervision and coordination very difficult. Night Staff: The night shift front desk attendant was extremely rude. We had a student get sick in the bathroom around 5 AM, and when we asked for towels to clean it up, he acted as if we had done it on purpose and just planned to leave the mess for housekeeping. Room Conditions: We had rooms with wires hanging out of the wall and tables brokken. We had a window in a students room fall out into the room. The noise levels were very loud. The smell of weed vapes all throughout the hotel was disgusting. Pool Condition: The pool was in terrible shape—green and foamy. This made us question its safe usability. Overall, while the breakfast staff made a great impression, the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. Hopefully, management can address some of these issues for future group stays.
