Description

Colonial Experience Historic Adventure Tour at Colonial Quarter

Journey back in time through centuries of St. Augustine history, from our distinctive 35-foot watchtower and colonial buildings to shops and dining.
Take an immersive, captivating journey through centuries of St. Augustine's rich history, brought to breathtaking life at the Colonial Quarter—the revitalized two-acre signature attraction in the heart of the downtown historic district.

Experience the Nation's Oldest City like never before with a Historical Adventure Tour that immerses you in the sights, sounds and smells of three centuries. You can also climb to the top of a 17th century watchtower replica, dine on classic Pub fare and Spanish Tapas and more!

Stroll the Flags Over St. Augustine boardwalk, each step a passage through the centuries beneath the very flags that have flown over this Ancient City for over 450 years—from the flag that likely flew on the mast of Juan Ponce de Leon's ship as he explored Florida's northeast coast to today's 50-star Stars & Stripes.

Visit our 16th Century Ship building project to see a handcrafted 50-foot caravel rising one story into the sky! A caravel was used by the Spanish in the 16th century, including by Don Juan Ponce de Leon, who claimed Florida for Spain in 1513, and Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles, who founded St. Augustine in 1565.

As Europe entered the Age of Exploration and began exploring new worlds, caravels were able to traverse unknown coastlines closer to shore than larger ships and travel deeper into bays and rivers.

Boatwrights like ours played an important role in exploration by designing and building new ships, and repairing those damaged by storms, reefs, sand bars, and attack by other ships.

Get hands-on with buried artifacts in our dig boxes. Get an intriguing glimpse into archaeological investigations that took place on the very ground you'll walk upon at the Colonial Quarter, real evidence that suggests it might have been the site of an early wooden fort burned in the late 1600s.

This was a great experience. We bought tickets along with our Pirate Museum tickets. Ellie, our interpreter and guide, was personable and had a wealth of knowledge. She took great care in bringing the colony to life to the youngest visitors in the group. Ellie had a flare to impart the reality of the hardship of daily colonial life in memorable and real ways. I would recommend this experience to any visitor to St Augustine to gain perspective on the town and on Florida History.

"Smaller than expected"

I had high hopes for this experience, but found it to be somewhat underwhelming. The area is much smaller than I had anticipated. It was extremely slow when I visited, and I ended up getting a private tour. My guide was knowledgeable and fun, and made the visit much better than it would have otherwise been, so kudos to him. The blacksmith demonstration was by far the best part of the experience. Outside of the tour (which for me lasted just under 30 minutes - I was there for 45 minutes total), there is a watchtower to climb for views over the inlet and Castillo de San Marcos, a replica printing shop, and a walkway tracking the various flags that have flown over St. Augustine. With more people inside the attraction, and on the tour, I imagine it would be a lot more fun, and take a little more time, but as it was for me, it was just okay. You can get a lot of the same information and experiences elsewhere in St. Augustine.

"Seriously Fantastic Experience"

We had a super fun time at Colonial Quarter! This was honestly my favorite experience that we did all day. My wife and I were here with a few college friends and we all had a blast. You’ll definitely want to take guided tour so make sure to plan your visit around tour times (about every 1.5 hours). Bert was a fantastic guide and really made the experience fun and unique. You learn a lot of fun and interesting history and I came out of there wanting to learn a lot more. The highlight of our trip was the canon firing. Seriously so fun. Plus, the view of the harbor and the fort from the watch tower is pretty cool. I would highly recommend this experience.
