Description

from Brookgreen Gardens
Named One of the Top Ten Public Gardens in the United States by TripAdvisor! Young visitors love the Enchanted Storybook Forest, a collection of storybook playhouses based on a classic children’s story or nursery rhyme. It has fun interactive elements such as swings, climbing walls, monkey bars and more. Just for kids is the Children’s Discovery Room and the Brookgreen Detectives booklet that gives kids an adventure by following clues, making observations, sketching drawings, and even playing word games. When completed, they turn in the booklet and receive a Brookgreen Detectives sticker and prize!

Kids' also love the daily animal programs Mother Nature's Cafe, where they observe the animals as an interpreter feeds the animals a snack and the interactive Meet the Animals program. We have 'A Garden Room for Children' that stirs young imaginations with displays of plants and sculpture. There are wooded nooks to hide in, things to climb on, and sculptural animals to marvel at. There is even an elevated place for parents to sit and watch the magic of children learning as they play.

Seasonal favorite is the Butterfly House open daily April - October where hundreds of butterflies soar through the air. Tickets are $3 - adults and $2 - children in addition to garden admission for a 30-minute timed visit.

"wonderful day"
March 2015
Really informative. Started with a brief video about the gardens. We received a map and a little information from the welcome center. We chose to do a self guided tour but they offer guided tours for no additional fees. With the one day paid admission you can come back within 7 days for free. The boat tour is fun it's about 45 minutes. The "zoo" as animals of the time period. Lots to learn about slavery times. You will enjoy yourself. Sculptures were amazing.
