"Disappointing Stay – Not What It Once Was"

After many years of visiting Branson, I always assumed Thousand Hills Resort was a higher-end, upscale place to stay. Unfortunately, after this visit, I would compare it more to a Motel 6 or Super 8. We stayed in a non-upgraded room, and it definitely showed its age. While the beds were clean and the mattress was very bouncy, and the pillows were acceptable (personal preference), the room overall did not feel well maintained. It didn’t appear to have had a deep cleaning in years. The bathroom was especially concerning: pink mold was visible in the tub/shower and around the ceramic tile, and the non-slip tub surface was heavily stained black instead of its original white. Water pressure was extremely strong—felt like a pressure washer. I personally liked it, but my wife did not. There was no room service unless you specifically requested “refreshed items” such as towels or toilet paper. Trash was not removed for two days until we placed it in the hallway ourselves, where it eventually disappeared. The HVAC unit was very loud, cycling on and off about every 15 minutes. We usually keep the fan running continuously to help with noise, but this unit would not stay in the “ON” position, which made the compressor noise even more noticeable. Breakfast was free and edible—that’s about all I can say. Nothing was hot, nothing was seasoned, and the menu never changed over our three-day stay. Options included powdered eggs, sausage, tater tots, biscuits and gravy, cereal, juice, coffee, milk, hot water, yogurt, and a bowl of mixed fruit. We ate breakfast one day and chose to eat elsewhere the remaining days. Overall, I’m very disappointed. I truly believed this was the prime place to stay in Branson, but it seems those days are long past. It may have been prime 10 years ago, but it does not live up to that reputation in 2025.

Nice place to stay. Front desk employees are friendly and helpful. Good location and wonderful breakfast. The breakfast staff are one of the best I have seen. They seated you quickly and when you were done they got the table cleared and ready for new guest in a swift manner.

"Old, run down place."

I won’t give you a thousand reasons why we won’t be back, but I’ll give you my top ten. 1-the smell in the lobby was like the worst of a thousand plug in’s-covering up who knows what. 2-No coffee-unless you want to pay $7 for a Starbucks when it’s open-which isn’t often. There is a tiny sketcy coffee maker in the room…no thanks. 3-The heater/AC is loud and intermittently blows hot or cold air about every ten minutes. 4-The fitted sheets came off both beds easily and there was no comforter. It was a top sheet with a thin blanket and then another top sheet. Cold! 5-There was maybe an inch between the toilet and the bathroom door. 6-The shower felt like a power washer. 7-They try to sell to you at check in and check out and spend more time doing that then making the place cozy. Ads everywhere. 8-Issues with power outlets in the room. 9-Room wasn’t refreshed on second day-had to call for towels and toilet paper. 10-Breakfast-though not terrible was the exact same both days. At least it was hot.

The hotel is nice and conveniently located. They have a good breakfast in the morning. Beds are comfortable. I did try to get an early check-in and they asked for $40 but said they’d waive the fee if I listened to their discount program, which I declined both. Other than that, we like it here and have stayed here on 2 separate trips.
