"Ritz Carlton is now a four-star hotel chain, at best"

This awful resort was the straw that finally broke the camel’s back — we will no longer be patronizing their resorts anymore. I didn’t need to see anything beyond the atrocious check-in to know that we were going to have a terrible week. I canceled as soon as we got to our room. Upon arriving at the hotel in our rental I tipped a valet $100, and he proceeded to disappear completely, leaving us to wander around looking for our room while he was off doing god knows what (not getting our luggage, I know that much). When I came back to the lobby to ask him to orientate us and to take us to our room, he took us as far as the elevator before he turned around and hurried back to the lobby, telling us that he was supposedly getting our bags up to the room. I was so shocked and livid, I didn’t even have time to compute what had just happened before he had already left. After I tried to call the front desk and couldn’t get through, I finally went back down and confirmed that our luggage had just been sitting out front with all of our valuables inside. After trying multiple times to contact the front desk and other staff, I decided I had seen enough over the half hour we were there to cancel our room and find another resort at the last minute for our family Hawaiian vacation. I have never seen a valet pretty much just steal a tip like that. Anywhere. Much less at a supposed five-star resort. This is not the first time we received horrendous customer service at a Ritz, so after several vacations ruined and/or extremely inconvenience, we are looking for other resorts exclusively, and I have made my wife promise that she will stop me if I ever make the stupid decision of giving the Ritz a third of fourth chance.

There are children everywhere—depending on your life stage this could be positive or negative. Music is broadcast almost everywhere—nice music, just a touch too loud. Staff were kind; if we asked directions they didn’t just point but walked us there. Room was clean and comfortable

"The best on Maui, for sure!"

Excellent 5 star facility. Best staff and service I have seen in Hawaii. Really nice operation all around. Beautiful location, food in restaurants and Club was very very good. Great golf courses. The only exceptions were one (of 3 restaurant visits) time seemed to take forever to get a single item that was ordered. And in the Club (which overall gets a wonderful rating), at times if you needed help from staff, it would a search mission to find someone.

The best thing was the welcome to the hotel. Checkin: we were told we were upgraded due to the Amex svcs package. If the room was an upgrade it is quite sad. Lip service for sure. Room: Shower stall so small that my hair in a bun touched the wall of the shower stall. No microwave in room to warm our morning coffee. No wooden stirrers in the room so I could stir my coffee. Not enough raw sugar in the room. No slippers in the room. Boring room with no vibe. Morning restaurant: had to wait as restaurant caters to outside guests as well so we had to wait although we were staying in the hotel. Booo! ++ breakfast chef made wonderful omelettes and the staff was very nice ++Sushi bar restaurant staff are great! Restaurant menus in general to not offer enough options for people who do not eat meat or seafood. I should not have to ask what the options are every time. Pool: service very slow and unaccommodating. If we ask for a drink we don't need 3 people trying to make us walk away from svc bar. Food order never came, SLOW My take away is that this hotel is running on its perceived reputation of a 5 star hotel. It is totally not that at all. Maybe at one time it was but it is soooo not a 5 star hotel in any manner. Will never return, Four Seasons Next time!

My son and I had an AMAZING stay at this resort. The staff treated us like royalty. Everyone was kind and made us feel like family. They had special treats waiting for us to celebrate my son’s 15th birthday in our room. They go above and beyond in every way to accommodate guests. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are clean and modern. The food and drinks are delicious. The house keeping shout out to Lisa Ray, makes sure that your room stays clean and stocked with towels and anything you may need extra. I can’t remember the breakfast hostess name, I believe, it was Claudine was so friendly and accommodating. Everyone we encountered was lovely. Our first trip to Maui was wonderful in every way. I highly recommend the Ritz Carlton if you are looking for some of the best service and memorable experiences while on vacation. Thank you Melissa and everyone we encountered for being so kind and welcoming. We will be back to paradise again soon!
