"Elegant. Fabulous. Great Location"

This hotel is fabulous and elegant. Its location is unbelievably convenient next to the convention center, river walk, free street car stop, one block from the Arena, and three blocks from the cruise terminal and Florida Aquarium. The staff was fabulous and the Anchor & Brine restaurant offers a great outdoor experience with a view of the river. The rooms were clean and spacious. The fitness room is well equipped but there’s a grade separation (steps) connecting two adjoining areas. The sky bridge connector to the JW Marriott across the street is uber convenient with easy access to SiX restaurant and The Beacon (rooftop bar). The river walk is immediately out the back door and spans 2.5 miles, is well lit, and allows for wonderful morning runs or evening walks. It’s hard to imagine that I would stay anywhere else when I return to Tampa.

"Great stay!"

My wife and I had the pleasure to stay at this hotel for our anniversary and to enjoy the football game on Sunday (TB vs 49ers). The hotel was great and we did enjoy ourselves. Pros- from check in to check out everything was great, the staff was amazing and helped navigate the hotel as well as the surrounding areas. The convenience of the hotel to SO many eateries and entertainment was amazing. The restaurants and staff on site were 10/10. Cons- the daily valet was a little pricey but the process to retrieve your car was seamless. The breakfast buffet was pricey and not a lot of options for the price. My BIGGEST complaint is the fact that I left an item (an AirPod, just one AirPod) and called to find out the process to have it sent to me. When I got on the link it stated it would be $40 to send the item to me. I spoke with Garrett and he was VERY unprofessional. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor to ask a question and he laughed and told me none was available and that they wouldn’t do anything for me. I don’t understand the unprofessionalism about asking to speak to someone higher than him. For everything to be so professional with this establishment I really don’t understand him being that way, that’s very disheartening. I would rate our overall stay the highest that I can go, but with the attitude of Garrett and his demeanor towards the situation I can not. I would love a response from someone in management.

"Poor Front-End Experience"

I'm not sure about the hotel itself, but so far the booking has been a HUGE disappointment. I'm requesting a business form that most companies use regularly. Rather than provide it electronically, as other hotels do, this particular Marriott, at least, makes you jump through hoops to get a blank form. After my third time phoning to request it, I got an employee named Evelyn who was passive aggressive, referring to me as, "Madam," in a disrespectful way, and providing that the minute the form was submitted, the company credit card would be billed, "and it's two months away," she said. She sounded so superior, and then called me, "Madam" again. I know customer service. I work with people all day long. And I know rudeness. She was. She is. I'm just hopeful that the water view makes up for the poor customer service at the front end. Wish me luck. I'm sure I'll need it.

"Not a great experience"

This was not a great experience. To the positive, the location of the hotel is very good with regards to it's location on the Riverwalk, and it being near many venues is great. Also, the service at the hotel was very good and thorough. However, here comes the rest: $50 a day for the valet parking is over the top. I have never paid that much anywhere, even in some pricey locales. It is compounded by the fact that the closest public parking option is several blocks away. Secondly, it appears that this may have been an older hotel that the Marriott purchased, and placed under it's umbrella. The room had only 2 drawers to place clothing in(we 3 had to request additional hangars), and a night table that was wobbly. The balcony had a nice view but the outside tables were dirty and rusty. There was a table in the closet which had a safe on it, but this table prevented easy opening of the closet doors .The shower doors did not close adequately, as there was always water on the floor. On the second to last night of our stay the air conditioning in 1 segment went out, and could not be repaired until the next morning. There is a $30 per day resort fee charge(which was a bit of a surprise), which can be used towards any hotel dining, but not the coffee shop or the bars. With the least expensive breakfast at about $19 pp you are really not getting much. The resort fee applies to other things, such as kayaking and paddle boards, but that is really not the reason that I came to Tampa. They do give you 2 passes to the water taxi(for 2 people), but since there were 3 of us, that did not go far. Finally, it was never mentioned that the hotel was pet friendly, and for my wife, who is terrified of dogs, having dogs being walked through the main lobby consistently, was disconcerting. Overall, I do not feel that I received true value for what I paid, and will be considering another option when in Tampa again, perhaps even the much more modern and alluring JW Marriott, which is connected to the Water St. Marriott by an in hotel bridge.
