The Riverwalk Plaza Hotel fit what I was looking for. Mostly quiet, within walking distance of the Convention Center (a little far, but ok) and also near the Riverwalk, restaurants, etc. The rooms are nice. Clean. A little shabby in our bathroom, but not horrible. Shower was high powered and had good range of temp. The pillows are gigantic, so bring your own if that doesn't work for you. Fridge in the room. Nice little coffee shop/restaurant connected to the lobby. Open air pool on our floor was nice, but too hot outside for me! They have a gigantic screen in the lobby area where they play movies and a nice common area with tables and games. We brought cards from home and played their several nights. If you like to be near the fun, but not right in the middle of it, this might be your stay place!

The Room was not in the same condition as the photos on the listing, it was a bit tatty and lots of dirt were evident in the room corners and on the skirting boards which had not been cleaned in a long time. I could almost ignore this except for the other issues that occurred during our stay. The hot water was too hot to shower in. A maintenance worker came out to fix it but when we returned the water did now not get hot at all requiring another maintenance visit. The safe didn’t work. Reception at first tried to fob me off by telling me none of the hotel safe’s worked. The maintenance man said that was rubbish and that this room’s safe had needed to be broken into by the hotel staff and that he would bring me a new one. Why was this not done before my arrival? The new safe didn’t arrive and I had to prompt them again when the the second maintenance visit for the hot water occurred. We stayed two nights- the room was not cleaned after the first night and the only response I got was that the cleaning staff had gone home for the day and nothing could be done about it. This was all pretty unacceptable so of course I complained to the General Manager who agreed it wasn’t acceptable and I was promised $50 as an apology and goodwill gesture. I only received $40 and was told that even though the GM promised me $50 (by email) he actually meant $40 and that I should contact Expedia if I wanted the balance of the $50. I contacted Expedia who told me that despite repeated attempts the hotel would not reply to them or engage with them. I do not like giving bad reviews, but the issues during my stay and more importantly that when given a chance to make this right the hotel management also messed that up meant I felt I had no choice but to give my honest review of the hotel. I only had a few days in San Antonio yet I wasted far too much of this time trying to fix these issues.

Great place to stay. Economical, clean and nice hotel, right on the water and within walking distance to everything. I will be back at some point. Lots of restaurants and activities in all directions to occupy your time. Perfect place for people watching. Loved it here.
