"Surprisingly beautiful hotel despite half closed, long lines, 1 eleveator and $50/day resort fee"

$50/day surprise resort fee not mentioned in my original booking. Half the restaurants pictured not there. Pool/hot tub closed for winter. Long check in lines. Check in and rewards kiosks did not work so everyone had to wait in line for the 1-2 people working at the front desk. Beautiful hotel with lots to do and I highly recommend the king suite with the view of the strip - it did feel worth the extra $20 and was a HUGE room for just one person. VERY QUIET. Only one elevator working so a lot of us stood in line for it. Weirdly there is a glass window that went from my shower into my bedroom so glad I wasn't staying with anyone else. Even my partner would have a problem with that because it gave a clear view to the toilet - felt very Vegas but maybe not practical... Loved the dressing room lights around the mirrors and this had two sinks/get ready areas one inside and outside of the bathroom along with a closet and desk and couch and coffee table and fridge - no microwave - really could have used that. TV and dresser and two night stands. Plenty of space for activities. Starbucks in the resort which was convenient, but you can only pre-order through the app if you have a Starbucks card. Bring your own tea bags and you can get a cup of hot water from them for $1.08, which is better than spending $10 for their mint majesty tea. Would have loved to try breakfast at the hotel, but the restaurant didn't open until 7am and I left before then. Most of the restaurants, shows, and shops were closed when I was there, but it was a Wednesday night so maybe that's why.

"THEY DONT GIVE YOUR $500 DEPOSIT BACK!!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed March 13, 2026 NEW
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! They charge a $500 (refundable) deposit which I assumed I would get back without issue as I always do at hotels since I don't ever do anything to warrant otherwise. But THEY didn't refund it saying that I had a smoking charge. I'VE NEVER SMOKED A DAY IN MY LIFE!!! Search it, apparently I'm not the only one they've done this too. Its a complete ripoff scam!

"Huge Very Nice Rooms!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 4.0 out of 5

We (my husband & I) attended the West Coast conference at the Orleans Arena, and for the last 15 years. we had stayed at the Orleans Hotel but this year we decided to stay at the Rio. (I stayed here last May with friends.) I highly recommend the remodeled rooms especially if you stay get on a higher floor. I have stayed in both the two queens and the one king. The one king has a hightop table with two chairs which is awesome. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. There is plenty of storage for clothes and other items. We did run into some glitches, but they were taken care of right away, such as our safe in our room was locked upon arriving. Our TV stopped working mid-stay, but it was just the batteries in the remote. The ice machine on our floor was broken so we had to either go up a floor down floor to get ice which was a bummer. We used the valet service the whole time which was convenient. The gentleman who work Valet are amazing, friendly and helpful. It’s very nice to have a Starbucks right there in the lobby and you can even do a mobile order from your room and then go pick it up. Upon request, you can have your room cleaned every day, which is amazing considering most hotels in Vegas clean every three days. We felt very spoiled getting our room cleaned every day from the amazing housekeeper! There is a refrigerator in every room. There is no microwave and there is no coffee pot, which is standard to Vegas. Check-in is easy if you use the kiosk. We did not as I had two back-to-back reservations and I wanted to make sure we stayed the same room. We waited 35 minutes for check-in as there were only three front desk clerks around 3:15 PM. I think there should be more at that time. Once we made it to front desk-the clerk made it very easy to check in! I highly recommend staying here and I know we will be back!

The Rio Hotel & Casino have experienced many upgrade over the past few years. The upgraded tower is a must, as we have tried both the remodeled and non remodeled towers. The Luckly's restaurant has an great happy hour menu and the wait staff is excellent. The price for rooms with our rewards membership discount was 40%, definitely makes the stay affordable.
