"Extremely Disappointed – Worst Hotel Experience Ever"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed March 28, 2025 NEW
I’ve stayed at many hotels over the years, but this was by far the most disappointing experience I’ve ever had — especially coming from a Marriott property. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill. Ronald at the front desk was unhelpful and dismissive when he couldn’t find our reservation. Rather than offering assistance or showing any sympathy, he simply stated we had been relocated to another hotel and suggested we contact USAA Perks for more information — with no explanation given. It took nearly an hour and a half of phone calls before we finally spoke to someone named Bri, who informed us we were moved to a hotel across the street due to a leak. We walked over ourselves, and thankfully that hotel provided the kind of hospitality one would expect. But the inconvenience didn’t end there. We were told to return the next day to check back into our original hotel. We arrived around 11 AM — the time we were told a room would be ready — only to be informed there were no rooms available. Despite promises, the manager never reached out to update us, and we had to follow up ourselves. We were left waiting and had to store our luggage — not ideal while traveling with family, especially with an elderly parent. To make matters worse: • We were offered a complimentary drink, only to be charged for it at checkout. • We were promised a one-night refund, which never came through. • We were given conflicting excuses — first a leak, then overbooking. • There was no apology, no empathy, and no ownership of the situation. • Upon returning home, we followed up about the refund and were told none would be issued — despite us providing documentation showing the credit from the hotel. • Marriott later offered reward points as compensation — which still haven’t been delivered, even after a month of follow-ups. The lack of communication, broken promises, and total absence of accountability made this stay an exhausting and disappointing ordeal. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience left us feeling dismissed and frustrated — not something I ever expected from Marriott.

"Location good and safe, good lobby."

The Location is really convenient. As in much of America lately, customer service is not what it used to be. At check in, I asked if all was prepaid, to which he confirmed. Later I noticed a charge for destination fee. OK, but what did I get for this destination fee apart from one, yes one, Illy coffee voucher. On my last day, just before checking out, I asked if I could get more coffee vouchers, and I was told I did not pay destination fee and that I would have to pay for my coffee. 20 minutes later, I requested the invoice for my stay, boom - there it was, destination fee charged for every night, yet I was not given any credit or perk associated with the payment of it. Cleaning could do a better job, I have short grayblonde hair, yet after cleaning, I came to a ball of black long hair :( One of the towels had a hole in it. Other than that, the lobby is nice. Location very good, quiet and safe, just a couple of blocks to the Riverfront outelts, a few more to French Quarter.

Pillows are heaven. Miss Joy, Storie and the rest of the staff were amazing. Sitting poolside in the warm Spring air was just what my tired bones needed to energize and revitalize. The Crab cake, burger and Sazerac was delicious. Thank you again.

Stopped at the hotel lobby restaurant for dessert and cocktails. Erika was my server. She was amazing! I was undecided of which dessert and she recommended bread pudding. it was to die for. I paired it with an espresso martini. Erika was very attentive and i will sefinitely stop by each night for the remainder of my stay for cocktails and bread pudding.
