This resort may be the most relaxing place we’ve ever stayed. Our Unit had 3 Bedrooms, 3 full baths, fully stocked Kitchen, huge patio, & washer/dryer. Parking right outside, and its own pool / hottub combo (in addition to the main pool). Restaurant was small but always good & accommodating to allergies. Walking distance to shops & restaurants. Never felt crowded at the pool or elsewhere. We loved the pool hours (something like 7 am- 10 pm) and enjoyed several swims after dinner. A++.

My family and I anticipated our stay at Kōloa Landing for nearly a year. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations and we ended up checking out early. Some things to be aware of: despite requesting a rollaway in the Marriott app and reconfirming with Marriott reservations, the property does not have any rollaway beds. This is a problem when you are traveling with two teenagers who are then forced to share the pullout sofa. We also tried to get a 2 bdr but none were available - I called for months and were told we were on the waitlist but nothing ever became available. When I raised the confusion about the rollaway with the front desk, they told me that I should not have trusted the Marriott app or reservations agent, but instead should have booked directly via Koloa Landing’s website. I’m still confused by that as it is a Marriott property. Speaking of the sofa bed, as others have said, it is incredibly creaky, so loud that anytime one of the kids moved, we could hear it in the bedroom. Also, there are not nearly enough beach chairs for the amount of people that are staying at the hotel, and there is only one place to eat (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), plus a small but nicely appointed market. We did enjoy our meals there but wouldn’t have liked another option. Also be prepared to wait as it’s the only option. Last thing — and I knew this in advance - but it is a real shame not to have easy access to a beach. We knew this when we booked but didn’t realize a road ran between the property and the ocean. We have stayed at the Grand Hyatt in the past and these two properties do not even compare. The Grand Hyatt is far far far nicer, and worth the more expensive price. If you do stay at Koloa Landing, I would suggest asking for a higher floor room. Ours was on the ground floor and so it was very dark. Last thing — be careful of the sliding doors — ours fell out of the track and landed on my daughter. No big deal for a teen but could have injured a smaller child.

"Average is good, but wouldn’t stay here again"

I’ll start with the positives. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely appointed. The housekeeping staff are absolutely helpful and lovely. Parking is easy, close to your room. The pool is really nice. That’s it. Once we checked in, the lobby staff declined. Stuffy, not helpful, and even rude at times. Back to the amenities…while the pool is really nice, there are not enough chairs. Both of our pool afternoons we walked around for 10 minutes looking for 3 chairs together. One day the towel girl helped and even she couldn’t find anything. Once we did find something, we regularly saw many chairs that were never returned to, but had towels “reserving” them, but left vacant the rest of the day. The bathrooms at the pool are gross and not regularly looked after. Our main frustration is, unlike most of the other nicer, high-end Hawaiian resorts we’ve stayed at, they do not have showers and places for you to clean up before you fly out. If you go to Hawaii, you know most of the flights back to the mainland are in the evening so folks are generally looking for a way to relax their last day at the beach or pool, and then clean up before they fly out, even when they have to check out of their room earlier in the day. This place only has the outdoor showers available at the pool so there is nowhere for you to shower and get ready. Not even anything in the workout area you could use. They also don’t do late check outs so our last day was a little unusual and not as relaxing as we were hoping. I learned a valuable lesson that this will always be something I call to ask about before reserving. I gave it three stars, which is average, because of the above positive things, but for the price we wouldn’t stay here again. As for being a decades long, faithful Marriott status member, there are zero benefits.

First room was ground floor and view of parking lot but called guest services and gave us better room on second floor facing garden. Really crowded due to spring break. Grounds and pool beautiful. Wish there was beach access but poipu beach close by. Room could use little updating. Staff was very nice and helpful. Nice to have free parking. Convenient location to many great restaurants and beaches.
