Kings Inn in San Diego

Extremely upsetting experience. I checked in with my 72-year-old mother and my child during a road trip. After check-in, my mom stepped out to move the car closer to the room but accidentally left her phone and key inside. She couldn’t remember the room number and went to the lobby to ask for help. She politely asked if she could use a phone to call me so I could come meet her and walk her back to the room. The front desk employee, Ryan, refused to help her. When I later asked him about it, he said she had asked to use his personal cell phone and called it a “ridiculous request.” I later asked her and she said: “i asked for a phone to call my daughter as I was lost”. Instead of helping a 72-year-old guest who was confused and simply needed assistance, she was dismissed and left wandering the property for about 20 minutes trying to find her room. When I finally found her she was nearly in tears. My mother is a Latina woman, and the way she was treated raised very real concerns for us about racial profiling and discrimination. There was absolutely no empathy, no apology, and no attempt to help. We left immediately and checked into another hotel. Refusing basic assistance to an elderly guest is unacceptable. Management should take this seriously. Also the hotel is gross, looks gross, people outside smoking weed, smelly rooms and not better than a motel 6.

Room was clean and staff friendly. Property was secure/safe and there is a great breakfast cafe on site.

Great motel in San Diego for a reasonable price! Location was close to major attractions and easy to get to. Rooms were nice and the waffle king restaurant was perfect for breakfast and supper. Would definitely stay here again.!

Rooms are clean & beds are comfortable. Staff are pleasant & accommodating. Coffee maker - fridge. Pool/ Jacuzzi is located in middle of complex. & always fun to chat with other guests in the Jacuzzi. Microwave available in small room near pool. Personal microwaves only $5 extra per day. They have 2 restaurants (one for breakfast & 1 for evening but that one is closed Monday night). Parking fee & monitored for better safety.
